Nov 13, 2011 - Still rubbing elbows with the high and mighty

Sunday, November 13, 2011 Last Thursday we awoke to blustery, damp, dreary day. A good day to be inside. We hopped the metro and arrived early as the Holocaust museum didn’t open until 10. We went to the coffee shop and had a snack. While there we chatted with a woman from Argentina who was visiting alone. She said she was a lawyer, 71 yrs old and still practicing law, working for the Senate of Argentina. Later in the museum Barb ran into her again and she told Barb her story. Earlier she had told us that she had already visited Auschwitz...

Nov 9, 2011 - At the nations capitol

Wednesday, November 9, 2011 I have placed photos on the previous post of our summer activities. OOFDA! Arrived in D.C. yesterday, Tuesday afternoon after a not too bad drive. Was an interesting and beautiful swing thru the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia and part of Maryland. Took I-68 and there were many long pulls up, up, up and long downs. Avoided much truck traffic rather than going I-70 all the way. Had super weather for traveling, sunny and warm. Was nice to sit at picnic tables in the rest areas for lunch. Did not hit bad...

Jun 18, 2009 - Greenbelt National Park

Sunday Jun 7 to Thursday Jun 18, 2009 As I ended my last journal entry, let me begin again ... “Have I mentioned that it is hot, humid, and rains a lot???” It certainly bears repeating!! We spent the past 11 days in Greenbelt National Park because it is where we needed to be to see Matt, for doctors appointments, business meetings, visiting friends, etc. The park is very nice, BUT it has NO water, electric or sewer. That meant eating most meals out which gets expensive and being very uncomfortable when in the RV (mostly due to the...

G'day WOW Washington DC first impressions clean and not cluttered with old tall buildings, although I'm sure it is in places. What did we do.... Smithsonian Museums, - Natural History, American Indian, Space and Air, White house, old Post Office, Pentagon, 9/11 memorial where the plane went into the side of the Pentagon, eerie, they have 1 memorial per person either going into the pentagon on the plane, or for those inside the pentagon. Memorial everywhere We actually walked around and around and around for 2 days for 7 hours..... and saw...

Apr 11, 2008 - Greenbelt Park, Maryland

Friday April 11…10:00pm I slept with no problems last night, but Ruth said she heard the traffic a fair bit. Either way, we were up at 7am, and on the road pretty much right away. We stopped at around 9am for breakfast and internet. Our goal was still to get to Greenbelt Park outside of Washington, and because we travel on the side roads, we don’t make very good time. The Baltimore – Washington area is pretty congested with cars, and so there was a lot of traffic lights we had to deal with as we got close to our destination. However, we...

Oct 18, 2007 - Look Out Pinewood - Here We Come!!

Thursday, Oct 18, 2007 As we were getting to the TT park last night, we developed a load noise (rattle). It was after dark when we pulled into the park, but first thing this morning, Drew was out searching for the problem. He discovered that 5 of the 8 bolts holding the hitch in the bed of the truck were lose. Those tightened, we began to leave only to discover an even louder noise. This time it appeared to be the transfer case. After switching back and forth a couple of times, the noise stopped. Hopefully, there isn't something wrong! ...
