May 23, 2009 - Day 49 & 50 - Washington D.C.
Oh my gosh, where do I begin. We arrived at Andrews AFB, Maryland on Monday the 18th, settled in and found our way around base. Andrews is an Air Force base and beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The commissary has WOW factor, and the BX and Outdoor BX are huge. For you golfers, they have 54 holes of golf in three separate courses - too bad we don't golf :) The campground itself is back in a wooded area. The facilities are not the best but they are manageable. We did, however, go to the base laundromat to do our wash since there were only two...

Oct 8, 2008 - Walking around Washington, DC
Cherry Hill Park, College Park, Maryland. Oct 8 Washington, DC Day One The humidity is back. Thank goodness it isn’t too hot. The city bus picked us up right at our campground. How great is that? We got all the correct instructions from our campground check-in gal on how to transfer to the Metro system to get to downtown Washington, DC. After a very rough bus ride we arrived at our Metro station. We were looking at our map when a courteous other passenger came over and asked if we needed help with directions. Wow! The check-in gal had said...

Nov 3, 2007 - Shrewsbury, PA
On to DC03 November - Victor came by the RV about noon today and we went to lunch and then geocaching. We located one just a few feet from the RV. He thought it was kind-of hokey but I think he really enjoyed it anyway. We had a good time together and I'm gonna miss him. I wanted a picture of us together but there was no one around to take it and I didn't know how to work the timer but I did manage to get a couple of him(2). NOTE: The Flappr Map is back up and running so you can add/update your info by clicking on the map link. And, if...

Sep 4, 2007 - Fort McHenry
September 4, 2007 8:00 48211 Sunny skies, already 74, promises to be another hot one! We stopped for diesel in Baltimore, 48261 499.4 $2.79 a gallon, that is the cheapest we have seen since last May. Our first stop today is Fort McHenry. For some reason Britain could not understand America's need for independence and even after the Revolution and the American win Britain kept trying to impose sanctions on the U.S. England and France had been fighting since 1793 and both nations began confiscating American merchant ships and cargoes in an...

Apr 26, 2007 - We Made it Home!
Carla here—we arrived at the Ramstein passenger terminal at about 8 am for an 8:45 am show time. WE GOT ON!! We flew into Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport on a commercial flight. The military had contracted with an airline for a 767 that went from Kuwait to BWI flying troops home from the "sandbox." There were a lot of troops on the flight, plus about 105 space available passengers and there were still about 50 empty seats. The flight cost us $27 per person since it was a commercial flight, but I'm not complaining. We got...

39 17.0 N 76 36.7 W Baltimore, MD With the winds to be from the SW as we head north and a little east up the Potapsco River to Baltimore Harbour this morning, we lift anchor, wave good-bye to all of our friends and exit the very friendly confines of Weems Creek. Our trip down the river takes us right to ANP where we duck into the main harbour to get a glimpse of the transformation of the town dock area into a parking lot for over 150 new, beautiful, shiny sailboats. In the background are a variety of vendor tents that hold some promise for...

Dec 16, 2002 - Delaware & Annapolis
Drove on late in the day to our Delaware stop--Dover. Delaware was our first state, and the first to ratify the Constitution. Dover is a small town, the capital, and really the only sizable place in Delaware, other than Wilmington, which is really a suburb of Philadelphia. Explored the downtown the next morning, but not really much to see -- lots of brick government buildings, and a pretty Capitol building. A couple of streets of well restored homes, and we were off to Annapolis. What a nice place Annapolis is! Water all around it -- it...

Dec 6, 2002 - Baltimore, MD
Off to Baltimore on Sunday -- we like to explore large cities on the weekends -- so much easier to get around, park, and see things without the workday crowds around. We didn't know what to expect in Baltimore, and really just focused on their renovated harbor area. They make extensive use of water taxis to get around to the various places around the u-shaped harbor. For $5, you can ride them anywhere, all day long. We decided that would be a fun way to see things and "hopped on, hopped off" several times to enjoy the sights. This was a...
