I found out today that the website has been having issues, and the last couple of photos were upside down. I swear I didn't take them that way! So, on our way here yesterday, we stopped at a truck wash to have the rig cleaned. The wash was in PA, so we still had over 100 miles to drive until we got here. There is a light fixture in the ceiling over the passenger seat. Apparently, we have another leak, because that light dripped on me the whole way here. Chinese Water Torture déjà vu! The temps yesterday in College Park were in the 90s....

Today was another east day. We got a fairly – for us anyway – start to our day by leaving the bus before 10 and after a quick breakfast at the campground snack bar we were headed east on the Beltway to US 50 to Annapolis and the US Naval Academy. It’s only about a 35 minute trip from the campground to the academy so it was pretty painless. Even parking near the USNA was pretty easy and we paid our money and got in line for the 11:00 tour. The weather started out pretty iffy – we had drizzle and gray skies all the way to Annapolis but as the...

Well, we did part of what we intended. We have been doing some research on where to go next and a couple other topics so this morning was spent on those tasks, so as we got closer to check out time it was obvious we had no where specific to go so we opted to spend 2 more nights here in College Park. Once we got that taken care of we loaded up and headed toward Lookout Point State Park in Maryland where the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay meet. It was an almost 2 hour drive but it wasn’t too bad and went through some really nice areas -...

I was out the door to get a part for the RV just after 9:00, fruitlessly I might add, which then required 2 trips to Home Depot, after I which I finally got my problem solved and we were out the door and headed to Harper’s Ferry WV at about 11:30. We had planned to go there last week but that didn’t work out so we decided to head there today since it was only a little over an hour NW of here. HF is at the confluence of – or coming together of - the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers and is very close to the borders of Maryland, Virginia and West...

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you for which that applies. For the rest of you, Happy Sunday. We left the bus around 11:30 after doing some more electrical problem research and pulled into the Snack Bar here at the campground for a quick late breakfast/early lunch - an omelet and a cheeseburger and you know who had what. We waffled back and forth on what to do today but on the way to the Metro station we decided to head back to downtown DC to see if the Washington Monument was open and maybe hit a museum that we missed in 2011. We got off...

We got started later than usual, but it all worked out. The rain was off and on today, but mostly off despite what the weather dudes said. We left here about noon and took the Metro into the Archives station to go to the National Archives to see what they call the “Charters of Freedom” – the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They – along with a bunch of other items - are all displayed in the Rotunda but because of the potential for damage to the documents, they are all displayed in very low light which...

Today was a drive, eat, clean, drive, ride, cheer, ride, drive day. While that may seem confusing, there is a logical explanation. We drove just about 3 hours from Charlottesville up US 29 to I-66 then onto I-495 – the dreaded Beltway – then off onto US 1 to Cherry Hill Park. We set up the bus and ate a late lunch, then hemmed-and-hawed about what we were going to do. The Nationals are in town this weekend so we kind of have to go to a game, but there is rain expected all day tomorrow so it comes down to either tonight or Sunday....

Oct 23, 2012 - Washington D. C. Area
For the last 5 days (10-19-23) we have been in the Waashington, D.C. area. Friday - 10/19: Our trip from Gettysburg to the Cherry Hill RV Park in College Park, MD was fairly uneventful. We had a little rain along the way, but as we were setting up it started to clear up. This is a HUGE campground. We used the remainder of the afternoon to check out the Cafe, Conference Center, Dog Walk, Laundry, Pools, etc. We also got info on using the Metro, for when we go into Washington D.C. Saturday - 10/20: The main reason for stopping in this area...

Jun 7, 2012 - Back On The Road
My planned 2 day stay in Maryland became a 5 day odyssey but permanent repairs have been made to the Magic Bus. Navigating the mean streets of Baltimore in the motorhome (twice!) was an interesting experience but it provided an opportunity to hone my driving skills. I don't often drive in reverse because the car is usually in tow, but after my experience at the Freightliner facility, I fear reverse no more! The first day over there they worked on the motorhome in the parking lot of their service yard since they don't have a service bay that...

Today we left Bristol, Virginia around 0830 after we went back and forth about staying for another day or two because of a hugh storm system that has the eastern seaboard under it's control. We decided to leave and drive to where I81 and I66 intersect because we had found a Passport America Campground in Fort Royal, Virginia. We arrived at the campground around 1430 and attempted to setup but by 1500 we decided to find another campground. The electrical system had a ground fault and the power management system showed only a 30 amp...

Apr 16, 2012 - DC - Day 7: Cherry Hill Park
Today we took a much-needed break! Both of us woke up sore and achy plus I needed to do laundry and make a grocery run. zi found out later that their was an Emancipation Day Parade and Festival in DC so I'm doubly glad we stayed put. Laundry wasn't too bad; nice laundry room which is always a good thing. Ralph went with me to the grocery store. We didn't need a lot but somethings were necessities. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices. Some things were cheaper than at home! Ralph organized the compartment under the camper after we...

Apr 11, 2012 - DC - Day 2: Cherry Hill Park
Waking up in Richmond this morning was a chilling experience. LOL. It was in the 40's so you know I was COLD. We walked over to Burger King and had breakfast before heading north on I-95. I called Cherry Hill to make sure we could get in a day early and was assured that it was not a problem. So 3 hours later, we arrived. This is a really nice campground; very large, well-maintained, and very organized. Wally, at the check-in, told us that at 4pm every day, a presentation about the various tour options was held in the conference center. So...
