May 1, 2013 - Clarksburg, Maryland

Today was a busy day and a beautiful one too! We are finally able to enjoy some sun. Rick washed the RV today, I made some reservations, and did a little more trip planning, payed bills and cleaned house. Then we went into Germantown, washed the car and picked up a few groceries. We went to Gaithersburg to Dean and Lori's at about 4:00, hung out and visited, and later on we drove into Arlington and met Chris, Ann and Justin (Dean and Lori's son) for dinner. We had a great time, it was fun catching up with everyone, and especially nice to...

We got up early so we could go see some of the sights we missed. It was still drizzling out, but we took the umbrella and left about 8:30. Our first stop was the Soldier's National Cemetery. Soldier's National Cemetery contains the remains of more than 6000 United States servicemen, including 3580 Union soldiers killed in the Civil War. Nearly half the Civil War burials are unknown soldiers. A few days after the battle, Andrew Curtain, Governor of Pennsylvania, visited Gettysburg and was deeply moved by what he saw. Bodies of soldiers had...

Oct 13, 2010 - Clarksburg, MD - Little Bennett Regional Park

Sorry for the tardy posting but much has happened this last week. I will be putting the correct dates on the following postings to reflect when they happened but making the actual post much later. On the way to Clarksburg, MD from Woodland, PA we learned that Doris' mother, who was in the hospital with complications from a broken hip, was not doing well and that Doris should get there as soon as she could. We arrived mid afternoon and made reservations for her to fly out of Baltimore-Washington Int'l (BWI) early the next morning...

Jun 26, 2009 - MerriLand!

I have always wanted to explore the woods of Maryland and I finally got to! It was everything I was hoping it to be too, which never happens! I ended up camping in the woods for 3 nights. I just couldn't get enough. Not only was the weather completely flawless but there were miles of streams and back country to explore. I felt safe too...don't really know why I felt more safe there than any other place I've been so far but I did. Maybe it was the overall energy of the place. Point is, I loved Maryland and would like to spend a week or two...

Aug 10, 2007 - Day 47, Clarksburg, MD

Today's ride was very easy as we move to closer to DC for the final day of the 2007 Big Ride. There was nothing difficult about today's ride. Gentle hills and little traffic but expect that will change as we approach DC. Again hard to believe that the ride is almost complete. I feel like I could ride for days longer but can not take the camping anymore! One more night in the tent is good enough for me forever. Just give me an RV and I'm ready to ride on! Right now it looks like rain, so here's hoping that we have a sunny day tomorrow as we...
