Apr 7, 2009 - More Assateague Island National Seashore

We had a leisurely day today. The temperature went down into the 30's last night but we were toasty warm in the trailer. After breakfast, we took the Life of the Dunes trail. This is another half mile loop but because it runs through the dunes, it’s a bit tougher walking. We were surprised to see the remnants of a road along the trail. We later discovered that a developer had plans to put 9,000 houses on this part of Assateague Island during the 1950's. Apr 6, 2009 - Horses, Horses, Horses

The moon was so bright last night that we saw few stars. I thought that because we were away from artificial light, we’d see more. We did see Orion clearly. It poured last night and the wind was ferocious. The heat from the Coleman lantern really warmed up the trailer. We layered clothing for our day time outings and started removing outer layers as the camper warmed up. Alan set the trailer heater at 61 degrees so we wouldn’t be too cold overnight. Apr 5, 2009 - Assateague Island National Seashore

Start odometer: 52,283 We drove 158 miles today. We took advantage of Tall Pines’ Sunday Breakfast. For $11.00 for two, we had scrambled eggs, french toast, pancakes, juice, coffee or tea, and bacon or sausage. The more we camp, the lazier we seem to get about making our own meals... We left at 9:43 a.m. to head to Assateague Island National Seashore. We hadn’t gone far beyond the Delaware Memorial Bridge when we experienced our first detour.
