The departure from Eastport was timed well and we caught the tide running out. They say that the term "Down East" derives from the easy sailing (down wind) east with the prevailing SW winds in these parts. We had our on version with a 5 knot current kicking us along from Lubec to the Great Wass complex of islands. For the night we chose a delightful spot at Mistake Island and had the place pretty much to ourselves. This came with a picture perfect sunset and another on the rise of the sun. Before departing, we discovered we were not alone....
