We visited with Ray and Cece at their summer home in Maine. We know them through our HitchHiker friends. Ray built his summer home with a garage and two RV spots. While visiting with them we visited all the cool stores and restaurants and got all rested up for the next phase, our tour of the Maritimes. As tailgunners it will be a lot of work. We really enjoy visiting with Ray and Cece. Ray is very witty so you have to listen and analyze what he is saying. I think it is a bit of Maine humor.

Jun 1, 2011 - Sanford, Maine

Last day in Sanford. Susan and Cece went shopping and managed to spend the whole day at it. I stayed home, washed the trailer, changed the water filter and did chores. That evening the four of us, Ray, Cece, Susan and me went to dinner. We went to a place that had good reviews but Ray and Cece had not tried it. Today we went exploring with Ray and Cece. We went to Portland, Maine. First thing we did was go on a Duck Tour of the city. This is where you go in a thing that drives on the street and also goes in the water. This way we got a great guided tour of the city and it's history. After that we went to take a tour of Longfellows house but we would have had to wait 2 hours so we scratched that. For lunch we went to one of the places in my Hamburger America book. It is called Harmon's Lunch as they are only open 4 hours a day. The hamburgers were...

We have settled in at Sanford, Maine. Yesterday we went on a trip down the coast, we started on the Maine coast and drove North along the coast until we were even with Sanford and then we went home. We saw Fort McClary with was built around 1806 and never saw action. We saw several lighthouses. And we got to see George Bush's house at Kennybunkport. Today we went to the towns Memorial Day parade. It was really small but it did serve the purpose to honor veterans both present and gone.

May 29, 2011 - Ohio to Sanford, Maine

OK, I have been a bad boy, I haven't been keeping the journal up to date. My reason is that there was noting exciting happening in our lives. We were just traveling, the weather was mostly rainy and stormy, and the RV parks have been pretty bad. Now we are into trees so sometimes I can't get satellite television. I will tell our story of the trip from Ohio to Maine by the pictures Susan took out the window of the truck (bugs and all). I did actually take a picture of rabbits in one campground. They are tame domestic rabbits they let run...
