Today we decided to do a little more sightseeing. First we went to check on our mail…..no mail yet! Hmmm…I wonder if it was ever sent out. Then we drove to Fort Knox State Historic Park and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory. This Fort Knox is not the gold bullion reserve that is in Kentucky. This was a fort that was built to defend the harbor and the entrance to the Penobscot River, the longest river in Maine, during the Spanish-American War in 1898.
