(Ron Writing) There are quite a few apple orchards in this area. We visited North Star Orchards near Madison, ME. They are busy picking apples and customers can either purchase apples by the bag in the store or pick their own apples. Needless to say, we decided to pick them. It was a nice short walk to the area where we picked Cortland and Macoun apples. We also purchased a half gallon of fresh pressed apple cider. May 29, 2008 - Farmington, Maine

Thursday May 29…9:30pm We had a very peaceful sleep last night. It would be nice if more campgrounds offered cheap basic facilities for overnight parking. We filled up with gas in “tax free” New Hampshire. That’s not entirely the case, but it’s close. I admire New Hampshire…they have a seatbelt law, but only for under 18’s. The don’t have any retail sales tax. The sign upon entering the state reads “Common sense for all”. Their license plates say “Llive free, or Die”. Anyhow, we put in 44 gallons (167 litres) for $171.
