Jul 1, 2013 - A Busy Week

It wasn't that busy a week for me, but it sure was for Pat. While I went down to the marina each day...to spend most of my time bailing out boats and trying to stay out of the rain, Pat jumped into the car and drove to Maine. Pat went to visit our good friends Mickey and Dan in Damariscotta, about 350 miles away from South Hero. She left Thursday morning and arrived at their home six hours later. What followed were apparently days of hilarity and good times...shopping, partying, wine, good food...all the things poor me, I mean, all the...

Oct 14, 2012 - Back on the road

Yesterday was project day....nothing much to report....started loading the coach for today's drive to Haverhill, MA. Plan is to leave by noon....rainy and cold...really looking forward to hooking up the car on the side of the road in the cold drizzle. We can't believe we have been here for over a week, but I think it's time to leave because I have eaten all of Mickey's chocolate chip cookies! Lobstah Man

Oct 10, 2012 - A day on the road

Yesterday was check out campgrounds for next year, and see what the possibility was for a summer job in 2013 for Lobstah Man. Our plan was to be on the road early...really early. So at a little after ten AM we walked out to the car, jumped in and 12 miles later pulled in to Moodys for coffee to go and donuts. Following the directions of our friend Terry, we motored north to Rockport. Checked out campground #1...tucked in the woods, not popular with families that have kids, about ten minutes to downtown. OK, but we are not in love. Nothing...

Oct 9, 2012 - Errand Day

That's what yesterday was.....laundry, trips to the hardware store, screwdrivers, pliers, stuff getting fixed and adjusted. Pat: What was the best part of your day today? Lobstah Man: Walking out back with Gracie...how about you? Pat: Going to the Dr and getting two needles in my knee. LM: That was the best part of your day? P: Yes LM: Gee, I guess I should have gone with you then. P: If you had been with me it wouldn't have been the best part of my day LM: Huh? Anyway, today we are driving north on Rt 1...no more rain, temps in 40s. Rt 1...

Oct 8, 2012 - Sunday in Maine

Sunday morning the big Pumpkin Festival event was the pumpkin cannon that was set up outside of town....the world champ in 1999. Very cool...a big rig with a compressor cranked up the pressure in the two big tanks, then a pull of the lever shot a pumpkin out into the salt bay. To make it even better (if that's possible), they rolled a car in front of the cannon and blasted it....got a big roar from the crowd. Only problem we had there was parking...cars lined the road for a mile. Then just as we passed the cannon itself, one of the workers...

Oct 7, 2012 - The Fun Has Begun

June - July - August - September - all spent working at the campground in Tioga. We had a lot of fun (especially when we had company), but we also did a lot of work. Four days on, four days off. Most of the time when we were off we were also doing some kind of work...Pat marking papers, doing laundry, food shopping and teaching classes, me....well, I was doing stuff too. October 2nd we left Tioga and headed for a friend's home in Damariscotta, Maine. Took us two days of driving in the rain and fog to get here, but here we are. (We...
