Jul 29, 2018 - Old home week in Brunswick for Barb and her Sister

July 24, Wednesday-Travel Day from Howe’s Cave, NY to Brunswick, Maine 320 miles Beautiful scenery, 95 North, and rain off and on. Arrived at White’s Beach about 3:30 pm, checked in and set up camp. Sheryl and Barb were surprised to see that the actual water for the “pond” was smaller than they remembered. The little slide and floating raft were as they remembered. We had dinner and a campfire for a short time until the rain made us go in. July 25, Thursday, rainy day forecasted so we slept in and gathered our laundry. The girls did laundry...

Sep 29, 2017 - A slow day, but bargains galore

Yes, indeed a slow day, but a travel day is always a particularly tedious and arduous part of travelling. We left early, heading East across to the Coast, and were pleased to discover what excellent roads we were on, as usual. We checked into, again, our fantastic Motel room in Brunswick, a huge, clean room, bar fridge plus and centrally located for the grand sum of $US97 per night, including breakfast. As mentioned before, we are finding the USA very expensive, so are pleased to take advantage of good deals along the way. Not much in the...

Aug 22, 2011 - Dinner near Brunswick with Priscilla Estes Emerson

After visiting LL Bean (This place has grown in the last 50 years!), we headed for Brunswick, Maine, and dinner with our cousin Priscilla Estes Emerson. We had a wonderful meal (lobster) and a fantastic visit. It was great to catch up after all these years. We only wish that we lived closer. It would be great to talk more frequently.

Maine Vacation 2011

May 1, 2011 - Brunswick, Maine

Alright, here we are leaving the Big Apple. It was great to see all of the sights, but we must trudge on, Northward. We left Queens around 9am, and hit yet another toll to cross the bridge to get out of New York. We travelled on the Interstate for most of today, leaving the State of New York and riding through the States of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. We stopped at Brunswick, Maine for the night (just North of Portland).

Oct 4, 2010 - on to Maine

We spent the morning tooling around the White Moutains, intending to head north to Hwy 2 (yes that's the same Hwy 2 in our area that goes to Leavenworth - it actually goes all the way across the country) and go across the middle of Maine to Acadia NP. As we were traveling through a highly commercialized area on the edge of the White Mountain Forest we saw a sign that said 62 miles to Portland, Maine. Knowing there was a road full of commercialization up ahead we decide to make a U turn and head onto the ocean drive from Portland to...

Oct 5, 2009 - PEI, Maine & NH

Oct 2 Today we start our exploration of Prince Edward Island. Our journey begins in Charlottetown, the capital of PEI at Founder’s Hall, a multi-media presentation which pays tribute to Charlottetown’s role in Canadian history as “The birthplace of the Confederation”. For those of you who aren’t up to date on your Canadian history it is when all the provinces of Canada from the Maritimes to the far western coast got to together to form what we know as Canada. It evolved from 1864 to present day. From Founder’s Hall we took a walk along the...

At Brunswick I went to see Dr. Carr my Dr who moved here from Delaware 3 years ago, she told me of some great places to see while on the south coast of Maine. Like Orrs and Bailey Island, Wolfe’s Neck Woods and Mackworth Island on the way to Portland. Got great pictures of homes, harbors and woods. At Recompence Shore Campground I bought Blueberry Milk and Coffee Milk which was good.

Sep 8, 2008 - Brunswick, Bath and Bean Hole Bake

It’s been a couple of weeks and a lot has been going on. So much so that there’s going to be two journal entries this week. Our last entry was dated August 28. That was an eventful day. During the afternoon I finally made it back to the Quilt Club in Bethel. It was project day so we worked on putting 9 patch blocks together for quilts which are given to people who have suffered the effects of a fire in their home. We took finished 9 patch blocks and sewed them to plain muslin blocks to make a quilt of 8 blocks per row by 8 rows. It was fun...

Oct 9, 2007 - Bangor to Brunswick - LL Bean Country AND Lobster Country

We wake to a clear, crisp, brilliant morning in Bangor. We are thankful that we have finally escaped from the record-breaking heat and the humidity of the mid-Atlantic states. The temperature is in the 50's and we leave Bangor and head south down the coast on route 1. We see Bangor by the light of day, having arrived here last night. It's a clean city, simple and charming - the way you expect Maine to be. Our first stop is Bar Harbor, which is on an island called Mount Desert Island (pronounced "dessert" as in sweet). It's as picturesque as...

Aug 12, 2007 - Thomas Point Beach Campground, Brunswick, ME

Hi Everybody, Well we had a pretty easy day today, seemed like things should go nice and simple, but by now I'm sure you've all realized that nothing is ever simple with us. I've realized that I'm almost out of one of my medications and I have to make sure I get it filled, NOW, so we're just heading towards the campground and all of a sudden I see a CVS in a shopping center on the left. I say, stop, STOP, and turn left right now. Of course you all have to know that's impossible, you don't stop this thing anything close to quick, but Mr....

Aug 10, 2007 - Brunswick, ME & NAS Brunswick

A stop at Brunswick on our way to Acadia. We spent the night with the permission of base security in an unused parking lot. The base will be closing in 2011 because of BRAC, so if you plan on coming here, keep that in mind. The FamCamp RV park is not close to the base, which is why we are here. There is a Walmart in town & it is a fairly large area. We did some shopping here & are heading to Wiccasset, ME next with a short stop to see friends Faye & Rick Snyder.... that is if they are available. We plan on being in Acadia for the night of...
