May 20, 2013 - Outrunning Storms in Shreveport
Our last evening at Cedar Hill State Park was spent in the mens restroom which served as a storm shelter. Earlier that evening our eyes were glued to the TV as we watched that awful storm cell that produced the F4 tornado just miles south of us in Granbury, Texas. The news went from tornado 'watch' to tornado 'warning' and when Barb's phone screeched with a text saying 'take cover now!' we rushed up to the restrooms - the only structure in the campground. Soon others showed up and after that the tornado sirens started - not comforting for...

Apr 28, 2013 - Mud bugs and Urgent Care
I decided that If there was an Urgent care walk in clinic Dick was going to get checked out. There were three in the phone book and every one of them was closed. It must only be urgent Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. He of course refused to go to the emergency room. So we'll see if he can walk when he gets up this morning. We did find the crawfish stand and brought back 4 pounds with corn and potatoes. They made our lips burn and our noses run. Perfection! I hear him moving around. We'll see if another night in Shreveport is in order.

Apr 26, 2013 - No surprise, Is a Good Surprise!
Today was one of the easiest drives we've had in a long time. The park is great with big cement pull throughs and a patio complete with a wrought iron table and chairs. The weekenders are arriving and the park is filling up. It 's still crawfish season and we were told that the "Shack" in front of the Exxon station has the biggest and the best price. But what I really love is the humidity, it is 70% and my nose feels like it's back in business. What !! No train tracks, no highway, no air port, how will I ever fall asleep with the sound of...

Mar 10, 2013 - Another Windy Rainy Day of Travel
Today we left our wonderful Duson and surrounding areas and food, and moved through wind and rain to Shreveport. When we arrived, the sun came out and it is gorgeous this evening. One problem we have is that Mrs. Whayland, our booking agent, failed to inform me that she was placing us in a campground on the grounds of and part of a casino. One must wonder about the poor communication. She swears she's not going to enter the casino or wager in any way. Only time will tell. Just a couple of more days in Louisiana which we have come to love...

Feb 5, 2013 - Geocache & Bass Pro Shop
Louisiana is one of the states we had not visited before in our RV, plus, it's one we had not gotten a geocache from. We went out today and found our first one for the state. Yippee! We also visited a cool shop in town called Bass Pro Shop. We saw one while in Branson, but we never got around to going. It was huge and awesome. I am not into hunting or seeing dead animals, I prefer them live, but this place is a must see while in Shreveport. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Check back later for more from Louisiana.

Feb 4, 2013 - Shreveport Boardwalk
We had a great time today exploring the Louisiana Boardwalk. This is a huge area with a 650,000 square foot facility that offers great shopping and restaurants. The Shreveport Boardwalk is located on the Red River with paved paths for walking with awesome views. You can look across the water and see Sam's Town Casino and many others. We loved this area and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shreveport. Check back later for more from Louisiana.

Feb 3, 2013 - Shreveport, Louisiana
Today was another travel day. We left Little Rock early this morning and drove about 215 miles to Shreveport, La. We were surprised to see so many oil wells in Louisiana, they were all over the place. We enjoyed viewing some of the huge plantations on the way too. I managed to grab one fast picture of one. We are seeing lots of crawfish signs and advertising for Louisiana style food, can’t wait to check out the Cajun dishes. We will be exploring the area for the next few days. Check back later for more from Louisiana.

Sep 19, 2012 - Another Day Closer To Home
An uneventful day on the road ( thank goodness!). Not a lot of traffic, good roads, and good weather. I am looking forward to arriving in Texas tomorrow and checking out the RV. I am hoping to put the key in the ignition and have her fire up without any problem. If all goes well, I will be in my spot at Buckhorn on Friday. That will give me a few days to clean and prep for Owen's arrival and our trip to Arizona. Keep your fingers crossed!

Jun 8, 2012 - Exploring Arkansas
Friday, June 8 Dumas, AR Last nights overnight at Pendleton Bend COE park was a delight. We parked on the levee overlooking the Arkansas River, close to the confluence at the Mississippi River. This morning we drove to Arkansas Post and spent most of the morning learning about this western most trading post during the Revolution and Civil Wars. The area of the country was ruled by the Spanish, British, French until it was sold to the US in the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The Arkansas Post is now a lovely national monument along the Arkansas...

Jun 7, 2012 - Visiting Louisiana cousins
Thursday, June 7 Shreveport, LA A relaxing departure as the temperatures were only in the low 70s with clouds. We decided to forego Interstates 30 and 40 through Little Rock, AR and Memphis, TN and drive some of the back roads of Arkansas. Our original destination was Pine Bluff, but we saw there was a national monument we hadn’t seen so at lunch we changed direction, again. We are heading towards the Arkansas Post National Monument.

May 30, 2012 - Mississippi Bound
We arrived in Shreveport, LA yesterday afternoon for an overnight stay at Tall Pines RV Park. About an hour before we arrived the front air conditioner stopped working. Uh oh....this can't be good! Fortunately, for us, Tall Pines has a service center on site. Even more fortunate, Fred figured after we got parked that we tripped a breaker. So, no repair bill and the air conditioner is working again. We attempted to play some spades on line with Bob & Connie, who are still in the Dallas area waiting to head north. It's been awhile since we...

Apr 25, 2012 - Moving on to Louisiana
4/25/2012 Last night, we had a little rain and lightening. I kept waiting for the thunder, but it never came. It was just enough rain to make the truck and trailer look even worse than they did before! Anyway, after a short morning visit with Missy, we got under way. We headed to Greenville, Tx where the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum is located. We followed the gps directions to get there, however, on the street where it is located, it turned out to be a one-way street. We turned on it (there was no one around), about 500 feet later,...
