Oct 12, 2011 - Heading West Once Again...

Charlie Brown and I are once again on the road headed back towards Texas. We anchored down in Bay St. Louis for the summer hence the lack of journal updates. After all this is a travel journal and we weren't traveling. Tonight, we have finally arrived back on the banks of the Mississippi River on the Louisiana side near Natchez. This is where we were on the fourth of July. We are retracing our path for the ease of it... We should be back in the Georgetown area near Austin in about one week. Plans are to spend the winter in the Austin area...

Sep 4, 2011 - Tropical Storm Lee

September 4, 2011 Having made the decision to stay where we are through the first weekend of October for the “Rumble On The Gulf,” a great car show with international entries…combined with a crashed computer, there hasn’t been much to add to the journal. Since we live in the coach, many days find Charlie and me staying home working on little problems that often pop up in any home environment, planning our budget, working on writing projects or whatever one does in their homes on any normal day. Tropical Storm Lee caused great anticipation...

Aug 25, 2011 - Dead Computer

August 24th, 2011 The signs were there yet I chose to ignore them. First the screen went blank...fortunately I could pair up the screen from my desktop computer to the Toshiba laptop. This evening I turned on the computer waiting and watching as the substitute screen came to life and typed in my password on the laptop's keypad. The first letter tapped as it should but when I hit the second letter, several asterisks lit up in the blank field. When the shift key was depressed...numbers, letters and symbols appeared on the screen. Of course...

Aug 8, 2011 - By The Bay

July 25th, 2011 Though I won't hesitate to stake my play at Blackjack tables, I have a difficult time shelling out $22.00 for dinner when I can fix and grill a great meal for so much less. Earlier this month, I was awarded a free pass to the Silver Slipper's buffet that expired on this date. I had tried to go Friday night for their crab and seafood special but the line was over 200 people long. It's not a $22 buffet however it is a lot of good food with great diversity and worth every penny of a free or discounted entry. The decor is a...

Jul 24, 2011 - Bay St. Louis Continued...

July 15th, 2011 Well, like a fool I dug deep into my pockets Wednesday hoping the next Blackjack hand would be the big winner. 'Course it wasn't--yet I kept digging. Deeper and deeper I dug until I had no more cash to spend. At least I didn't hit the ATM! No one was winning. The flashing lights, the bells and all the whistles along with screeches of winners at other tables or from a bank of slots makes it easy to believe luck would change at any moment and the big win would be close at hand. Wednesday night, it wasn't. I returned home...

Jul 13, 2011 - St. Louis?

Perhaps I am going to make another mistake in my error filled life but here is the rationale. And rationale might be the first step of addiction. Full time RVing is not a hobby, it is a lifestyle. Hobbies I've enjoyed in the past (none were cheap) include photography, R/C, collectible cars, Harleys and drinking. Hopefully, this is not the beginning of an addiction rather the beginning of a passion as any hobby should be but I am going to give gambling and educated chance. No, you shout, don't do it. Here's my mindset. I only play...
