October 5, 2015 Day 56 New Orleans, Louisiana to Morgan City, Louisiana We had a short 87 mile drive to Morgan City and we are staying at the Lake End Campground which is operated by the City. October 2 thru October 5 New Orleans is a very different place and it has its very own character. Friday morning we drove into downtown New Orleans and boarded a “Hop On Hop Off” bus which took us around portions of the city. Our plan was to ride the bus once without getting off and then decided which sites we wanted to visit during the next three days. The weather was rather unusual for this time of year as it was very cool and while on the bus in the second story...

We had a short day of driving today. Just under 90 miles We are staying at a city owned park called Lake End. The sites are very large and we had a great view of the lake. Other parts of the park have large trees with lots of moss hanging from them. This area has a lot of Acadia heritage. Acadians are people who were displaced from Nova Scotia and settled in Louisiana. DAY 2 - Today we visited the Wendell-Williams Aviation Museum, the Cypress Sawmill Museum and the Rig Museum in Morgan City. The Rig Museum is dedicated to and commemorates...

Apr 14, 2011 - Day Trip: Morgan City, LA

Lafayette KOA offers a special. We pay for three nights and get the fourth night free. Today is our extra day. What do we do? The locals are fishing for perch. There are no charter boat opportunities here. The Gulf of Mexico is too far away. We decide to drive to Morgan City. We hope that Route 90, away from the city, is scenic. It is not scenic and it is not in good shape. John comments, “It feels like we have spent the day in a cement mixer!” At Morgan City, we again inquire about chartering a fishing boat. Again, the gulf is far away. A...
