After Gadsden we went to Louisiana. Its an interesting state with lots of history about the black issues. Of course after the Civil war the blacks gained their 'freedom'. Of course in reality that never happened. In 1963/64 there were major issues in the many of the southern states and Louisiana was the boiling point. On March 7 1965 a group of people started a march for the right to vote. They attempted to leave Selma (about 60 miles from the captital Montgomery) by crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the state police fired tear gas,...
