After we arrived at Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, LA about 1 PM, we drove about 4 miles to the Jean Lafitte National Park. There's a small visitors' center with some interesting displays, and the bayou boardwalk starts just outside. We walked about a mile out (then, back).

Aug 23, 2011 - End of a fantastic trip
LAST ENTRY Early on August 13, we left Estes Park and started our journey south. The next six days were long, tiring and hot, especially the days in Texas. In particular, Livingston, Texas had a high of 106 and was sweltering! The A/C in our home on wheels had difficulty keeping us cool. (How do people survive here?) On Friday, August 19, we made it to Louisiana, and the heat was almost as oppressive as in Texas. When we passed through Baton Rouge, the temp was 102.
