We took a drive over to Hodges Gardens State Park today for picnic. Designed and opened to the public in 1956 by oil and gas businessman A. J. Hodges, the park is over 700 acres of both wild and cultivated plants and flowers, from rose gardens to a natural garden. Built on an abandoned rock quarry, the Hodges family planned a scenic garden using the natural rock formations. The property was donated to the state of Louisiana in 2007.
