Feb 13, 2015 - Eunice, Lousiana

"LAISSEZ LES BONS TEMPS ROULER" Let the Good Tomes Roll!! Rolled into the Cajun Campground and was greeted warmly by the owner, Francis, who is one of the nicest gentlemen I have met. He went out of his way to make sure our stay there was the greatest and that we didn't miss anything. The campground is in a rural area outside of Eunice and is sooo...quiet and peaceful after being in Walmart parking lots, and a few other places with railroads and airplanes. We were also greeted by a former WIN, Sherry and Fred, who took us to DI's...

Oct 18, 2014 - Lesse Le Bon Temps Rouler in Eunice, Louisiana

When were in Richmond Virginia we were talking with a fellow camper about our trip. We mentioned that were going to Louisiana. He tells us that we need to go to Eunice for the Cajun food and music. I like this music. So I have now convinced my dear loving husband that we need to experience this (this our once in a lifetime trip, right?). Since we are now heading west and it is only 23 mile north off of I-10. Checked out a few campgrounds and found one that sounded nice per the reviews. I called and they had only 1 space left. Got here...

Apr 12, 2014 - Saturday Morning Jam Session

From Pioneer Acadian Village RV Park – Breaux Bridge, LA To paraphrase the words of Marc Savoy, a musician and builder/player of the Cajun accordion for well over half a century, he set out to create the Saturday morning sense of community he experienced in his childhood……… Before the days of online payments it was a Cajun farming community tradition to go into town to shop and pay their accounts. Owners of the establishments to show appreciation would have a pot of coffee on the counter along with maybe some doughnuts, boudin or cracklins....

Home Sweet RV - 2014

Mar 24, 2012 - Eunice, LA

The rain finally stopped – yay! - and we headed on our way. As we crossed the bridge as we passed through Baton Rouge, we saw a tugboat headed in to the dock. A little further west we saw these boats working on the bayous; not exactly sure what kind of boats they were or what they were doing, but we thought it made a beautiful picture. We headed to Eunice, LA, Louisiana's Prairie Cajun Capital, for a Lone Star Bounder Rally. The wagonmasters are Cajun and they sure put on a good rally, Cajun-style! They prepared a Cajun pork stew one...

Mar 6, 2012 - Eunice, Louisiana March '12

We left Kerrville bright and early on February 29th and drove to Beaumont for the night. It wasn't that much of a trip, but I think the drive through Houston made it feel longer than it was. Got to Beaumont mid-afternoon, set up and relaxed. Next morning, we got up very leisurely and took off about 10:30 for Lakeview Park in Eunice, Louisiana. Our plans were to spend the week at the park and have our daughter and her family join us in their RV, unfortunately, her youngest has had some ear problems and so as a result of the predicted rainy...

Apr 24, 2008 - Rice fields and crayfish

Still in Cajun country we continued north through the steamy realm of rich bayous, wind-rippled crayfish ponds and sun-warmed grasses. Many farmers breed crayfish in rotation with their rice crop. A rice pond needs to be stocked with crayfish only once. After the rice harvest the crayfish feed on the rice stubble. With a lifespan of 18 months and being prolific breeders, they are an easy source of additional income for these farmers. Seafood is abundant in Southern Lousiana's wetlands and the Cajun lives and their cuisine reflects this....

Apr 19, 2008 - Cajun Music Heaven

From Cajun Palms RV Park – Breaux Bridge, Louisiana Sorry it was too late last night to post this entry for April 19. Our day was filled with Cajun music from morning to night. We got up early and headed for Eunice where the Marc Savoy Music Center is located. This is the center owned by the well known accordion player Marc Savoy since 1960. He makes and sells Cajun accordions from a store next to his home. The entire Savoy family are musicians and they have made several family CDs. Marc writes, sings and plays accordion. His wife Ann plays...
