Feb 26, 2013 - Traveling to Sunshine and some Gooood Food
At last we have a sunny day after an early start and a windy drive. We are in a very nice campground without the waterfront property of the last. Since we got here early, we took on the daunting task of finding some crawfish for lunch. We took a short trip to Breaux Bridge, the crawfish capitol of the world, and found a little dive named "Crazy Bout Crawfish" where the interior decor was a bit of everything including a ceiling where the acoustic panels were business cards and a sign asked that we not feed the waitresses. A friend had told...

Dec 17, 2012 - On The Road Back To Texas
From Frog City RV Park – Duson, LA We hit the road about 9 a.m. today and traveled a tad over 300 miles to our overnight stop in Duson, LA. The trip began with grey skies and then heavy rain the first hour of our drive, but then the rain stopped and even the last part of the trip had to bring out the sunglasses as it decided to make an appearance early afternoon. As I have alluded to, our departure from Gulf Shores came with bittersweet feelings since we had so enjoyed our stay in that area and the family atmosphere at the park where we...

Oct 9, 2012 - Lafayette LA
Yesterday we started out cold in the Eagle. Due to a problem with the power company, the power to our part of the park was off until 1:30 and we needed the heater in the am. Ray turned on the generator for about an hour to warm us up. The sun was out and by the afternoon it was very nice outside. Today we made very good progress and spent the night west of Lafayette. I miscalculated and we didn't buy diesel in Shreveport, had to go the a non Pilot in Natchitouches and had sticker shock at 4.099 a gallon. The interstate was easy, so we kept...

Apr 23, 2012 - Swamp Air Boat Tour
Hi All, We went on the swamp air boat ride and it was so much fun. It's amazing how those boats can ride over anything in its way and you just glide over all those lily pads. It was beautiful back in those swamps. We went into Bird City after the tour at the Tabasco Plant, if you look close you can see that the egret's are nesting. They say that over 20,000 of the birds nest here and come back to nest year after year. Check out the pictures and enjoy. We had a great day. I have some great videos but they can not be downloaded because they...

Apr 21, 2012 - Frog City RV Park
We really had a good travel day today no rain and mostly cloudy easy driving. Today we could sleep a little later then yesterday and it felt good. We stopped for fuel and it was only $3.90 a gal. I know it doesn't sound cheap but better then $4.25 a gal. We stopped to eat lunch out today usually we just stop and eat in the coach so this was a treat for us. When we went in the restaurant we started to sit in a booth but the sign said Drivers Only. The waitress said you drive a car don't you so Elizabeth said we drive a motor home so we set...

Mar 25, 2012 - Duson, LA
Well, we finally left Texas today after over 3 ½ months and have decided to head east along the gulf coast. We stopped at Frog City RV Park in Duson, LA, a small town just west of Lafayette, LA for 2 nights. Monday we drove south of Duson by car about 50 miles to a small town called Intracoastal City, basically an area that has a lot of fishing trawlers and oil service platforms. The platforms have cranes and other equipment built on flat bottom boats about the size of a tugboat. What is neat about them is they have these large tubes on...

Nov 5, 2011 - Travel into Louisiana
Saturday morning, and all is well with the bikers! They are coming out of hotels and motels and RV parks and hitting the streets of Galveston. We stopped at a McDonald's for breakfast and invited a motorcycle couple to join us, as the place was crowded and we had plenty of room in our booth. They were on their honeymoon, having a great time tent camping and riding their Harley. We learned that the man was a constable in a Texas city near Fort Worth and is contemplating running for sheriff. We boarded a ferry to take us over to Hwy. 87N...

Apr 1, 2011 - New Journey Begins
From Frog City RV Park – Duson, LA The start of a new month and the beginning of a new quarter of the year each began today. However, it marks the start of being back on the road after spending nearly 4 months, with only a short 4 day trip to west Texas and back at one location taking care of needed medical issues. Now with these medical issues a thing of the past, we said our goodbyes to family and friends and left on our new journey this morning. Tonight is only an overnight stop on our way to a week’s stay just outside of New Orleans at...

Nov 9, 2010 - Duson, LA
On every trip back and forth on I-10 we pass huge billboards advertising Frog City RV Park. And Chris has wanted to stay there for some odd reason like, she likes the name! Go figure! So the mileage was right this time and in we went. Good place for an overnight, easy on/off the highway. There's a truck stop next door with good, hot breakfasts. Perfect for starting the next leg of the trip.

Apr 24, 2010 - On the Road
On 4/23 we left NOLA on state roads rather than the interstate. Drove through swamp after swamp. It was cloudy and windy in the low 80's with a few scattered showers. Drove 191 miles to Frog City RV Park in Duson LA just outside of Lafayette. On the way we stopped at Avery Is. LA and toured the Tabasco-McIllhenny Company. You know that hot pepper sauce is aged in barrels for 3 years! Has the opportunity to taste most of their products. I tried their mildest and it was too hot for me. Chuck liked the "Sweet and Spicy Chili Sauce" They have...

Apr 19, 2010 - Ducon, LA
Spent 2 nights at this PassPort America park, so that we could visit the Tabasco plant. It was a nice tour and we got a few free samples. I bought several of the Tabasco products in their store. Many of which I have never seen before. Also went to an old rice mill.
