A long awaited drive to the Mississippi Delta - Monday, November 16 Since deciding to come to New Orleans, we have wanted to see the lower delta country where the Mississippi River flows to the sea. At the south end of the highway you go through the tiny community of Venice, Louisiana, and past Venice the road splits. ... While the marinas are in good shape now, there is evidence of Katrina’s damage everywhere, from the hulls of boats rusting away where they were blown up on land, to green waterlines over the doors and windows of the buildings in Venice. ... The haunting beauty of Louisiana’s Gulf Coast - Sunday, November 8 Today we took a 100 mile loop drive through Louisiana’s outback, on a road called the 'Cajun Nature Trail'. At Cameron we came to a ferry crossing, and while we waited we watched a hawk sitting on a pole. ...
