May 12, 2013 - Nashville, TN to Shepherdsville, KY
As promised, I made scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for Mother’s Day breakfast only to find that camp offered free breakfast with blue grass music. One of the nice aspects of the way we travel is that we can change our plans in a moment. I spoke with my sister and family this morning regarding our Columbus visit. They recommended going to Maker’s Mark in the bourbon/winery region south of Louisville and a horse farm tour in Lexington. I got on the internet and researched all of the tours and a new campground prospect. It is a...

Mar 8, 2013 - to Louisville KY; 17/267
130308-Fri-73577 miles-Today we drove 454 miles to the Louisville South KOA in Shepardsville KY. Above you will see the numbers 17/267. That stands for the 17th trip in the RV and the 267th night in the RV. That doesn’t count the nights we actually stayed at my brother, Jeff’s, condo. If you have been following this journal for a long time then you probably know the numbering system. In the future I intend to use this journal for all trips, not just RV trips. Other trips will probably only have the 1st number. Anyway today was uneventful....

Nov 4, 2012 - Ali! Ali! Ali!

Sep 28, 2012 - Grandchildren in Louisville
Friday, September 28 Lake Jericho near Louisville We had a good time last weekend with our family here. The weather was very pleasant, and we enjoyed participating in some local festivities at the Riverfront. In the evenings, we visited with them and enjoyed sharing dinner together. Sunday, Reagan and Grandma enjoyed making and baking sugar cookies to share with everyone. Monday was a beautiful day, but the week went downhill (weather-wise) in the evening. We have had heavy rain almost everyday this week and this morning is no exception....

Wednesday, September 19, 2012 – Met with Phyllis and Scott Blackwood in Jeffersonville, TN and Beverly in Lousiville, TN Phyllis is Lowell’s cousin from Louisville, TN. This was the first time I met Phyllis and Scott. What a lovely couple! She brought me beautiful roses from her yard in a lovely vase. They smelled so good and now the Casita smells like roses. Again I enjoyed listening to the Konkler stories. Our visit was way too short. We both wished we could have spent more time with them. So we know we will head back to TN again....

Sep 15, 2012 - Lori and I in Louisville
After the best cave expedition I have ever been on, I went up to visit Lori and Allan for the weekend. Lori and I came back to Louisville where I took her to lunch at Lynn's Paradise Cafe so she could see it. We split a grilled chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries and fried green tomatoes. Then we went to see the American Printing House for the Blind and learned alot about how the blind can read and learn math and science and everything else. If we could have come on a weekday, we could have gone on a tour of the factory where they make...

Jul 20, 2012 - Day 18 Fremont OH to Louisville KY
Woke up to a rainy morning and after looking at the atlas realized that we were 8 miles from I-75. Ran some numbers and the mileage to Spearfish SD from our currant location and from Louisville were within 10 miles. The mileage to Louisville KY was 308. Got a break in the rain, loaded the bike and on the road again to Louisville KY. Decided to split the day up a bit as we have been running the interstate for a couple days, jumped on some back roads and enjoyed the farm land with the old barns. Skirted the rain most of the trip with...

Today Kent and I did separate activities. He and Tom went to the shooting club at Indian Creek for sporting clay and a little skeet. Then for lunch they discovered a great Mexican food restaurant full of natives from below the border. Kent was surprised to find quality Mexican food in Louisville. Pat and I went down town to museum row along main street. I chose the Frazier International Museum of History. We enjoyed a reenactment presentation by a historian who was one of the early settlers, circa 1780. He emphasized the difficulties with...

Jun 26, 2012 - Louisville Trip & Blue Ridge Parkway
We arrived in Louisville Wed 6/20/12 after staying overnight in Cinci. We stayed in the parking lot of the Kentucky Convention Center, on cement, with 1800 other rigs in 90 - 95 degree heat. Did I mention it was hot? Not ideal camping, but still nice to have your own home and air conditioning. The rally itself was good, learned some new things and found some equipment that we didn't know we needed or wanted. Hard on the pocketbook. We left Sunday 6/24/12 - a day early - to get out of the heat and to avoid finding more things we needed. Got...
