Sep 17, 2008 - PILOT Truck stop in Grayson, KY for an overnighter

We got off to a slow start in the morning. Only made it to Grayson, KY, off I-65 E, on our way to West Virginia. We left Diamond Caverns about 10:30 a.m., ab out 1.5 hours later than usual. Then we had to make adjustments to the new rack holding the Porta-Bote on top the truck. First it was too far to the rear, couldn't make much of a right turn before the boat touched the front of the trailer. Then about 10 miles down the highway had to stop and adjust the tie-down on the front of the boat. THEN it was lunch time anyway, so we grabbed a...

Jun 4, 2008 - Stopover at Grayson, KY

Quite a day, lots of clouds and stormy weather, but luckily we were stopped both times when the downpours came along. S&S had a problem with rear air bags just across the border into KY. Luckily a trucker at the flying J saw the problem (lever on the ground) and was able to help S get the bus moving…Then Bob and Shelagh found a place for repair and we were on the road in about 2hours. All in all could have been much worse. I reminded Shelagh it could be us next time. Found a nice little campground (Valley Breeze) and hooked up for a shower...

Apr 29, 2008 - Grayson, KY from Boonville, IN

April 29, 2008 Boonville, IN to Grayson, KY We left Boonville this morning at 0800 CDT and we were out of the park before the two big buses. Maybe they were staying another day. The one bus had a trailer hooked to the back and it was stenciled with “Team Suzuki Factory Off Road” so they must be on their way to some big off-road race or demo. It was cloudy and 37 degrees this morning but no sign of frost in our area. We had unhooked last night so we could go into the little town of Boonville to get some milk at the Posey’s Grocery store. You...

Oct 24, 2007 - Kentucky

Oct 24 51067 8:20 We had a light drizzle overnight and a little fog this morning but there are patches of blue sky and it is clearing. We are headed across West Virginia today and that will add another state on the map on the RV. I am behind and need to put on New Jersey and Delaware. It is threatening to rain today and in fact you can see it off in the distance. Areas are fogged in but the colors of the trees are a bright spot in the landscape. Occasionally a spot of sun will shine through for a few minutes. Well the rain has won but...

Jul 6, 2007 - Grayson, KY

We got back on the highway (I-64) and traveled about 250 miles, pulling in to the Valley Breeze RV Campground around 2 pm. While we try for pull-thru sites on transit days so we don't have to unhook the truck, the manager suggested we take a back-in site as they provided alot of shade. So glad we did as it was hot. The shade was accompanied by a lovely breeze, and we were able to enjoy our "porch."

Our Great Adventure

Jun 23, 2007 - Grayson Lake, Kentucky

Back on the road—at last. Due to poor internet reception I will post pictures next time. It's surprising -to me anyway- to think that after being off the road for a week, that you would really miss traveling. Lowell and I are both healthy again and have packed up and headed down the road. Last night we stayed in a travel plaza just outside of Beckley WV. It was a place called Tamarack. An oasis in the middle of I-64, where fuel prices were high, but the accommodations were cheap. We parked in their RV parking area, put out the big slide and...
