From Columbus-Belmont State Park – Columbus, KY Once a city considered as a relocation site for the Nation’s capitol following a fire in Washington during Thomas Jefferson’s presidency but failed by one vote in the Senate is today a small almost ghost like community of only several hundred people……..Columbus, KY. May 14, 2011 - Wickliffe Mounds
From Columbus-Belmont State Park – Columbus, KY On a day that felt more like it belonged in the month of February with the high only reaching 58 degrees, gusty winds, gray skies and varying stages of mist falling on and off the entire day we set out to begin our exploration at this point on the river. May 12, 2011 - Beautiful Views of the River
From Columbus-Belmont State Park – Columbus, KY We have already worked our way through four river states and have arrived in Kentucky….#5. Today’s drive up the river had us having to make a rather long detour in north Memphis due to flood water over Highway 51. Once around this closure the rest of the trip was uneventful. We reached Columbus-Belmont State Park early afternoon and as we began to set up for our two week stay, things were going well until we checked phone service…..OOPS, I could not call Rudy standing beside me.
