Oct 13, 2017 - October 13, 2017 – Emporia to Williamsburg, Kansas

October 13, 2017 – Emporia to Williamsburg, Kansas I left the Emporia RV Park at 7:30 this morning never to return. I dropped Joliffe off at Williams where they flushed the transmission and put in new fluid. They also put a rust retardant on the frame and then an undercoating which should keep the rust at bay. Fortunately, the stuff they put on the roads in Alaska hasn’t done much damage so I shouldn’t have to worry in the future. While they were working on Joliffe, I went to George’s where Dave gave me a haircut. We spent the time while he...

Oct 7, 2017 - October 7, 2017 – Williamsburg, Kansas

October 7, 2017 – Williamsburg, Kansas I got so engrossed in the Manzanar book that I had to finish it so it was almost 2 a.m. this morning when I finally turned out the light. I ran the slides in around 10 last night because the wind was really coming up and, it was rocking the coach pretty hard. Running the slides in calmed the rocking down quite a bit. It rained off and on all night. It was raining when I work up this morning, but it cleared off around 11. The wind was still blowing, and I was glad that I wasn’t driving today. I did put...

Oct 3, 2017 - October 3, 2017 – Williamsburg and Emporia, Kansas

October 3, 2017 – Williamsburg and Emporia, Kansas I drove down to Emporia this morning. They didn’t have the tires that I needed for the car. They will have them in tomorrow. I will have them put on Thursday because I have to go to KC tomorrow to meet Betty and Ken at the storage unit. Betty is going to buy my embroidery thread chest. They are also going to pick up the barn wood pieces which her brother J. R. made from their father’s old barn. I bought the 2 pieces at the Longwood auction and am donating them back. I was going to rent a...

Oct 2, 2017 - October 2, 2017 – Williamsburg, Kansas

October 2, 2017 – Williamsburg, Kansas When I woke up this morning, it was very windy and remained so all day. I sure was glad that I came down here yesterday because I surely wouldn’t have liked to drive the coach in the 20+ mph winds. It was bad enough in the car. I watched a little TV and read until it was time to go to Emporia for my eye doctor appointment. I remembered this morning what I had forgotten at the campground yesterday. I had a feeling that I was forgetting something but couldn’t figure out what. Now, I remember that it was...

Oct 1, 2017 - October 1, 2017 – Lee’s Summit, Missouri to Williamsburg, Kansas

October 1, 2017 – Lee’s Summit, Missouri to Williamsburg, Kansas I left the campground at Lee’s Summit shortly after 1 p.m. It was closing at 3 for the winter. I got here to the Homewood RV Park shortly before 3. I got checked in and parked. They had just put down fresh gravel on part of the pad, and my jacks sank into it. I had to move forward to get on solid ground. Then, I still had a problem getting level, but finally all was good, and I’m settled here for a week. I’ll be running back and forth to Emporia and Kansas City this week for...
