I'm not kidding about the title. I've actually totally enjoyed our ride across Kansas. First of all, last night at Meade Lake State Park, it was an incredibly beautiful evening. So I decided to man up and sleep in the tent I've dragged half-way across the country unused. I actually slept well until 4 a.m. Then I woke up and realized the ground is freakin' hard even with a "sleeping mat", which is no more than a piece of rubberized cardboard, intended to soften the blow of the drought-hardened Kansas turf. New Mexico 2011

May 30, 2006 - Clinton Lake State Park, Lawrence, KS

The police came knocking on the door of the RV. We were told that we were not legally parked behind Chelly's house. We had planned to move the next day anyway, so it wasn't a problem. We finished our errands that day and in the afternoon we hooked up and drove to Clinton Lake State Park. It started to rain on the way out there and rained all the while we set up. I guess we got initiated on how to set up in the rain on our first night. We did it, but it wasn't pretty.
