Alarm went off at 4:30 today! That is early! We had breakfast and were on the road at 6:15am, that is really good! We could have been on the road at 6 and had enough light, but we are getting better! It was just a nice ride, the kind we like, not rushing just enjoying the ride. We got the first 40 miles in easily and arrived in Girard before noon! Jun 19, 2017 - Day 51 - Chanute to Pittsburg. KS

Today’s excursion to Pittsburg, Kansas, was a wonderful, short, 59-mile journey with 1,247’ of ascent. The day was full of no’s. No wind, no rain, no large hills, and no hot weather. It was wonderful! Pittsburg, Kansas, population 20,233 and elevation 942’ is about 5 miles west of the Missouri state line, and is the last city in Kansas that I will bicycle through on this TransAmerica Bicycle Trail route.
