Mar 31, 2014 - Little House on the Prarie

Our departure from Osage Hills was right on schedule for us, about 10:15AM. That's our typical departure time, as it allows us time to have our coffee and chat about the day's plans. We crossed into S.E. Kansas near Coffeyville, my mother's birthplace and were enjoying the country views. We had no specific plans as we traversed this part of the state, but were surprised to see a small roadside sign announcing the site the Little House on the Prairie made famous by author Laura Ingalls Wilder. By the time we could read the small...

Jul 17, 2011 - Slow Sunday In Paola, KS

It was hotter today than yesterday. We had a Subway sandwich and dropped the boys off at the wake cable. Missy and I had to sit in the back of the RV where it was cooler. The inside of the front of the coach was 90 degrees. We went and watched the kids ride about 7pm. The were having fun trying to get every second in before we leave tomorrow. Ross learned a new shove it trick on his wake skate and Brock was ripping like always. We ate at Ryans and it was actually really good. Then we came back and packed the tent, cots, chairs, and other...

Jul 16, 2011 - HOT as HELL !!

Ross came in from his tent around 2am. Mainly because I did not want to sleep in 95 degree weather on a cot. We did not do much today. Went to the Paola square for a car show. There were some nice classics but it was to hot. The heat index was over 110 degrees today maybe more. Brock rode at the cable but Ross was sore from two days of riding and stayed at the RV. We ate lunch at a steak house on the Paola Square. It was pretty good. Missy is having issues with this immense heat. The humidity is as bad or worse than Florida and there is no...

Jul 15, 2011 - Day 2 in Paola, KS ( Full Moon)

The boys rode all day at the cable. We moved the RV 60 miles sout to Miola Lake campgrounds. it's only $19 per nite including electricity. Thats the cheepest rate of the trip and probably in the country. They are real camping sites but the lake view is awesome and we are only 10 miles from the cable park. This is a typical small USA town with the square and lots of small town folks. Missy and I cleaned the RV for two hours. It is 110 degrees with the heat index here but the RV is staying pretty cool. We hit Walmart for some supplies tonight...

Jul 14, 2011 - Finally Wakeboarding in Paola, KS

We did a lot of driving today, in the car !! We had to drive 60 miles to the Kansas City, MO to drop Ethan off at the airport. I did not know you had to stay with them till they are in the air so we were at the airport for 3 hours. After we got him off we headed to 60 miles back to the RV park and then 30 miles south to Paola, KS. That's where KC water sports is. Typical wake cable in the middle of a pasture but the staff was nice and the boys were thrilled to be back on the water. Missy and I went into Paola and found a very rural RV park...
