Sep 12, 2014 - Day 12 Ft Hayes Garden of Eden

The city of Hayes and Ft Hayes are great. The old fort has two officer quarters, one enlisted men barracks and the block house still standing. You can still find the old footings for the buildings but everything was torn down when the golf course took over the land. The buildings which are still erect are because they were used for storage for the golf course. There are a couple of Buffalo across the road from the fort between the college and the city park. Apr 23, 2012 - Lucas, Kansas

From Mushroom Rock, we headed over to the town of Lucas, Kansas. We have been following some of the geography wonders of Kansas and decided to take a look at Lucas because it won several of the competitions for the eight Wonders of Kansas in the Art and Commerce areas. Lucas seems to be the center of grassroots art. Since I really was not familiar with what grassroots art was, I had to look it up on grassrootsart.net.
