Kristina and Jon stopped by this morning to say good bye and we gave them the left over insulation that we had from last year. With Jon working nights and sleeping days there bedroom gets pretty uncomfortable. I think if they put the insulation on the windows it will block some of the heat plus darken the room for easier sleeping. Heres hoping! We said our good byes and I watched them leave. Jul 21, 2009 - Lake Garnett

Sometime in the thirties a small river was dammed to form a lake outside the small Kansas town of Garnett. Over the years the gently rolling land surrounding the Lake became a Park, and eventually a road was laid around the perimeter of the Lake. In 1958, sports car enthusiasts saw the possibilities of that ribbon of blacktop around the Lake and held the first races there. Nov 1, 2008 - Garnett, Kansas

Saturday November 1…10:45pm We had a good day today! Got up and drove about 5 miles over to the Clinton Lake day use area. Had some breakfast there, and then took Whiskey on a hiking trail for about an hour. Drove south from Lawrence through Ottawa, Kansas and on to Garnett. We had no plans on where we were going to stop for the day, but we could see the lights for a baseball diamond as we entered the town, and so drove over to them.
