I started my day at the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site which is housed in Topeka's Monroe School. Why was this school chosen? Because it was one of the four schools in Topeka for colored children and it was available for purchase. It is just coincidence that this was the very school that Linda Brown attended.( who , by the way, was in the building today but unable to get away at the time I was there - does she work there? is she a volunteer? was she just visiting? forgot to ask those questions) The park ranger was very...

Jul 9, 2010 - First Night In A Wal-Mart Parking Lot

Yesterday we drove all day long, after stopping for only an hour at the Wall Drugstore. Wow, that place is like a gigantic, free attraction and it's loaded with tourists. It's fun, yet tacky. Mar 28, 2008 - Continuation of Jack's journey to Iowa

Jack traveled through Texas, Oklahoma and spent the night somewhere near Concordia in Kansas at a Walmart, approx 500 miles. On this trip he realized the headlights were pointed to the ground! Another item for the Winnebago fixit list! He went through Liberal Kansas and says he did not run over TOTO!
