Oct 10, 2012 - Our home until Dec 23rd

We left Topeka early and arrived in Coffeyville around noon. We are parked at Big Chief RV Park again which is across the street from AMAZON. Our orientation started Oct 11. Our shift will be Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri from 5 PM until 3:30 AM. There are a lot of new people here, but there are several returnees as well. This weekend we will have to start prepping for that late night shift. Next week we actually start with just half days of 5 hours. Shouldn’t be too bad. Well it’s been two years since Emily and Anthony got married and little...

Dec 26, 2011 - Change of plans

We are packed and ready to go, we have said our goodbye to Kristina, Jon and the girls but we have changed our destination. Due to weather, not here, but on I-40 Westbound being snow packed and in parts, CLOSED, we have decided to take I-70 and drop in on Salt lake city. They currently have no snow. This gives us the opportunity to stop by and see Barrie. We arrived slightly early in Olathe and had to wait for Barrie to get off work. Then we treated him to Burger King. We then said our goodbyes and we were on the road. The day was a great...

Dec 3, 2011 - Day trip to Joplin

Off to Sam's club we go. We drove around Joplin looking at the tornado devistation. They have done so much. The volunteerism has been outstanding. We always try and stock up on supplies while we are here and we did not disappoint. The whole backend of the car was full. We also did some Christmas shopping. Tomorrow starts the overtime at Amazon. Wow, we are going to get 3 days of overtime. The first year I was here, I had OT almost every week I worked. Somehow I doubt that will be seen again. After alot of thought, I have decided this will...

Nov 24, 2011 - Happy Thanksgiving

Amazon rarely closes and today we worked, mostly preparing for tomorrow. We worked until noon and then we were done for the day. Much improved over previous years. Mom had made Candied Yams, that smelled devine as I walked into the motorhome. We were having dinner over at Kristina and Jon's house. I made a Pineapple Coleslaw that I hope everyone likes. Kristinas Turkey was outrageously good. She has become such a good cook. I guess all those phone calls have paid off! Today is also my Dads Birthday. It didn't happen often, but this was...

Work is work. I am just greatful that I am on the DOUGHNUT Shift. Meaning I work Monday, Tuesday, off Wedneday and work Thurday and Friday. Mom and I are able to get the laundry and shopping done on Wednesday, leaving the weekend to do something or just rest. Destiney and Kyrie have been involved with Cheerleading for the Little League Football team. We have been spending our Saturdays watching them cheer, and to our surprise the games were very good. They are having such a good time. Its good to see them smile and laugh. Hard to believe...

Nov 6, 2011 - Coffeyville, Kansas!

We stopped in Wichita to have our combination Washer/Dryer looked at - the dryer part stopped working - it won't start! Didn't have a lot of confidence in the service tech though so we passed on his diagnosis. He said it was the major switch that works the W/D - huge, complicated device that was going to cost a lot and he wasn't really too sure either!! The W/D is 11 years old.... we could almost get a new one for what they wanted on just a part! Plus, we had taken it out of the closet and had it all opened for him and ready for his...

Oct 9, 2011 - 4 weeks down

Well, we have finished our first month. Lots of changes this year, not all for the better. As with last year, I'm thinking that overtime will be non existent. Concerning, as I based my staying here on the overtime that I was strongly told would be coming. I am hoping that i do not regret my decision to stay with Amazon and not take the Cigna contract offer. I will continue to do a good job, enjoy my time here with Kristina and not worry about what I have no control over. Otherwise, work is not bad, but the workkampers are far from...

Sep 27, 2011 - Happy Birthday to me!

After work today, we haeaded out to dinner which of course was Chinese Buffet. Somethings never change. Year 3 at the same buffet. I would have thought I was deserving of a free dinner....just kidding! Kristina and Jonathon and the girls joined us and we all had a good time. Of course the night was called off early as Jon had to go to work and I had to get up at 4 AM. Until next time.....

Sep 11, 2011 - Day 1 at Amazon

Today was mostly meet and great. The mountain of paper work that still needs to be done. Then we did the tour, which I must say was much better then in previous years. I now know where Barrie and Kristina worked when they were hear in Crisplant! Following the tour, we had our Safety School. Thank goodness for the schooling I had in the first year as this was sub par at best. This year it was sort of show and tell instead of hands on. Its one thing to see a pallet jack, its another to actually be in charge of one. Note to Paul. This is not...

Left Coffeyville for Springfield, Mo for a Cigna Event. I thought it was further, but it was less then 3 hours. I even stopped in Joplin and checked out the Tornado damage. Got into Springfield with plenty of time to set up for the event. Had dinner and went back to my room for the evening. Until next time.......

Last week I went over to Amazon.com for the drug screen swab. In and out in nothing flat. Stopped in to see Paul, from HR. He was happy to see me and wanted to make sure all was going well. Confirmed my start date for Sept 11. Feels good to be coming back. Besides me, there are 3 other couples returning for there third tour of duty! Today, we decided to put up the Cabana and all the lights. Oh my, it turned out gorgeous. I took some pictures that i will post later.

Aug 17, 2011 - BBQ

We decided to get the laundry and grocery shopping done prior to Kristina and Jon coming over. Who ever said Fulltime RVing is all glamour and sightseeing? With the chores done, I got the BBQ and chairs out of the bay. Mom and I got everything set up and we finally sat down to relax. Soon, Kristina, Jon and the girls were here and we sat around and chatted. We put the burgers on, but decided to eat indoors due to the HEAT. You never remember the heat until it hits you in the face! Before we knew it was time for them to go but we made plans...
