Today’s traverse to Alexander, Kansas, was a windy, but marvelous 75-mile ride with only 512’ of ascent. The destination for the day was Alexander, Kansas, population 65 at an elevation of 2,077’. Alexander, established in 1869 is the oldest city in Rush County. At its peak, in the late 1800s, the community included a bank, hospital, newspaper, lumberyard, a Santa Fe Railroad Depot, hotel, multiple churches, and multiple grocery and general stores.
