Sep 24, 2020 - This journals last entry
As most of you know I have been trying other formats for a journal/blog to log our travels. I even thought about using facebook to post it in. Well after several tries I have came across a blog that seems to be working fairly well. It seems to be easy for others to find it and also has a notification of new post. The new blog allows for both pics and videos and seems to load a lot faster. That might be from it being new and there not being many files that have been uploaded to it yet. Time will tell. This journal was started on May 17,...

Sep 20, 2020 - Kansas
2020-09-20.Kansas The only nice thing I can say about Kansas is that one farmer feeds 55 people. That's impressive given the conditions that these farmers endure every day. Not only is it dry and flat, but the wind is relentless. It was so windy during our two full days traveling across the sunflower state that our kayak rack, which weighs 100 pounds on its own and carries another 60 pounds of kayak, was pushed to the side. Bob had to take the rack off and rebuild it when we stopped for the night. We stayed one night in Wakeeny, KS at a KOA...

Sep 16, 2020 - Still in Kansas...
Yes, we are still in Kansas. You might have read the blog yesterday (before I fixed it) and think we should be in Colorado. Opps, I thought it was Wednesday, not Tuesday. Blond high five on my part! But today is Wednesday, and we are still in Kansas. Tomorrow is a short day and we will be in Colorado. We got underway at 0900 again today. Nothing too exciting to look at today. Kansas is kinda flat with lots of crops like corn, hay, sorghum, cattle, and even some wind machines. We also saw some oil rigs working away by the side of the...

Sep 15, 2020 - Looking for Dorothy in Kansas
A busy morning before we got underway. Spike had to flush the tanks really well and add some DEF to the tank. This campground in Missouri is a cute campground that looks like it used to be a mobile home park. Very well maintained with lots of grass and big old trees. There are still some of the old (50's era) mobile homes in some areas. I think they might be rentals. Zoey loved sniffing them, and wanted to go right up on their porches. (She must have thought she was at a KOA!) So we were underway at 0900 on our way to Kansas today. Neither...

Sep 10, 2020 - Wellington KOA
Cold morning 40’s. Wellington 65 feels like the tropics. Got k tag. Had to stop a toll booth near Wichita, map didn’t show divided highway so missed the turnoff to road that would have kept us out of Wichita and a toll interstate. Fortunately the highway was not crowded at the time we had to stop at the toll booths.

May 31, 2020 - Looking for Dorothy
This morning we got out a little earlier and after grabbing a quick breakfast we got on the road and pulled out of the Red River RV Resort. It was a good stopover for the night. Normally it is pretty full with travelers and folks that didn't want to pay the high price to stay at the Winstar RV park. This time it only had the long time residents with only a half a dozen over-nighters. We got it for $20 since we are members to Passport America. Normally it is $40. We got on I35 North and headed towards Kansas. Today was another good day...

Oct 22, 2019 - October 22, 2019 – Emporia to Wichita, Kansas
October 22, 2019 – Emporia to Wichita, Kansas I stopped by Carl’s this morning. He made a better work around since he didn’t have the correct valve in stock. He also fixed the bay door which didn’t want to latch. I got away from Emporia about 11 and was parked at the RV park in Wichita by 1:30. I fought the wind all the way here. It wasn’t as bad as it was yesterday, and I’m glad that I wasn’t on the road then. However, I was glad to get to the park. I got hooked up but didn’t unhook the car. I walked to the Braum’s store which was about a...

Oct 21, 2019 - October 20-21, 2019 – Emporia, Kansas
October 20-21, 2019 – Emporia, Kansas October 20 – It was another quiet day which I spent reading and trying to fend off the cold I’ve caught. October 21 – Carl didn’t make it out to fix the valve today, and I don’t have my bill so I will stop by his shop in the morning before I go. Since I have a cold, I was glad to just stay inside and stay warm. jnd

Oct 19, 2019 - October 13-19, 2019 – Emporia, Kansas
October 13-19, 2019 – Emporia, Kansas October 13 – It was cold today so I stayed inside and tried to stay warm. October 14 – Today was the day for the doctors. I had my blood test, doctor, wellness check appointment, dentist and eye doctor appointments today. That was it for the day. October 15 – I took the car in for the recall work. They called me to tell me that they would have to rebuild the transmission and would need the car through tomorrow. That won’t work because I have a haircut tomorrow, and I’ve already changed the appointment...

Oct 12, 2019 - October 6-12, 2019 – Stillwater, Oklahoma, Emporia, Kansas and Longwood, Missouri
October 6-12, 2019 – Stillwater, Oklahoma, Emporia, Kansas and Longwood, Missouri October 6 – Lunch was at Patsy’s today. There was no needlework that got done. Someone had given the thrift store where Patsy volunteers 2 boxes of needlework patterns and pattern books. Mary, Debbie, Connie, Guyla and Patsy went through them and selected when they wanted. That took a couple of hours. After that it was time for Debbie to head back to Texas. Mary isn’t going until Tuesday so she and Connie will have time for more shopping and visiting. Patsy...
