We stopped in Walnut, IA. It only seemed like 1 am, since we were used to Mountain time. The hotel had two Queen bed plus a fold out couch - a very spacious room was discovered just west of Des Moines. So, everyone got to sleep on a bed! Although the space was in the room, not the bathroom- you could hardly turn around in there!
