We picked Fred & Chris up this morning and started our day out with breakfast at the Country Store across the street. Well they did anyway, I ate oatmeal before we came. Larry said it was some of the best sausage country biscuits & gravy he's ever had. After breakfast we headed out for the short trip to the Iowa Great Lakes, a group of natural glacial lakes. Woke to blue skies this morning, well, for about 10 minutes! Then the gray moved in, the temperature dropped and it stayed that way for most of the day. We had a light shower or two as well, but by the time we picked Fred & Chrissy up for today's outing it was just overcast. Did you know that Iowa is all farmland? LOL, just kidding, crops only cover 60% of the state, but it is known as the "Food Capital of the World". Sep 17, 2010 - Travel day to Iowa...
A short update to let you know we have safely arrived in Iowa. It was a beautiful day for traveling with blue skies and white clouds, my favorite as you may already know! We made only one stop and that was at a nice rest area right at the SD/Minnesota border. We stretched our legs a bit and had a bite of lunch. When we reached the Iowa border there wasn't a good spot to pull over, so I took a pic of the Iowa sign as we raced by at 60 mph. Sorry about that all my Iowa residents, lol.
