I left Mishawaka this morning about 10:30. (You don't want to bustle about when there's frost on the ground. It was a good test for the furnace though.) It was Columbus Day today so I thought traffic would be light. Wrong! Chicago has been a zoo every time I've gone near it and today was no exception. I even tried the toll road route and even it was packed with trucks! So much for holiday traffic. Jun 23, 2008 - Indiana, Illinois & Iowa

Last night the cats warmed up to the room and to us, cuddling and purring the entire night. We thought maybe they were going to lighten up and throw us a bone and be more social in the car. But they sort of locked down all day – poor Oscar hid behind the litter box any time we opened the back. There was no complaining though either from the cats or the dogs, which is admirable, as we drove about 9 hours and 600+ miles. Jun 16, 2008 - As Willie says....on the road again...

Hi all. We're still on the road. We left Jackson, Wyoming around noonish (mountain time)yesterday, and drove until 4:30 am (central time) so....let's see....8 plus 3, minus 14, carry the one, divided by exhaustion....basically it means I need a freakin' mathematician to figure out what time it is here, and at home, and how long we've been on the road. The long and short of it is that currently, I'm typing to you in a rest stop, somewhere in Iowa. All the rest stops in Iowa have WiFi. GO IOWA! Iowa also has cows. Lots and lots of cows....
