Apr 30, 2012 - Weekend at Lori's

I found it only takes a little over 3 hours to get to my sister's house in Indiana and I will be visiting a few times this summer. This weekend I went and helped with some yardwork, spring cleaning, and furniture rearranging. We also did fun things like go to a new mexican restaurant in town, enjoyed Saturday night movie night with popcorn, and a stroll in a couple of places in Madison, Indiana. Here are a few pictures of her yard this Spring.

Apr 22, 2011 - destination reached!

I woke up to cloudy weather and didn't see the sun shine all day! I had to change into jeans at the first rest area, as it got quite cool in the hills of Tennessee! I went through a few rain showers but it didn't rain while I was pumping gas or using a rest area! It also started to rain with lightening right after I got parked at the campground near my sister's house! I was lucky to stay dry! I enjoyed noticing the budding trees and dandelions and swollen rivers after being in sun and dry conditions for months and months! I had a nice...

Sep 22, 2010 - Versailles, IN

The drive to Versailles took 2 days. I stayed in a Sam’s Club in Oakwood, OH and got there just as the store was closing. It was a quiet night and I felt safe because I saw a patrol car every half hour in the evening. Supper was a big salad at Wendy’s and breakfast was McDonald’s fare. When I got to the park, I ended up picking the same site as I was in before but this time, I backed in, wasn’t happy with the location, and drove back out to get farther away from the electric post. I should have gone further before turning the wheel because...

Aug 10, 2009 - House and pet sitting

After spending the last couple of weeks or so camping in State Parks around the Decatur area, my motor home is in the Fleetwood service center there to be looked at and repaired. I'll let you know what was wrong after it is fixed, since part of the deal is inspecting the under carriage and making sure it is safe and trustworthy. While that is being done, I am staying at my sister's house in Versailles. Dolores and Allan had already planned on vacation that week with Allan's brother and wife up at the Chain O'Lakes State Park, a little...

Aug 8, 2009 - Weaving through Middle America

The next few days found us driving through country roads that threaded through a region as varied and colorful as a mosaic.A drive that revealed some the old-time pioneer spirit. Here history is part of the landscape where covered bridges and mellow old buildings nestle in verdant valleys; where steamboats ply the rivers and where the echo of past battle cries and Indian chants reverberate through the rolling hills. Most of our drive through the central states was in persistant rain. We camped in beautiful, forested state parks that dot...

Aug 28, 2006 - wasted day and wasted night

I expected to be at Kelley's RV for only a few hours, but it ended up being a whole day. But I got the turn signal, horn, emergency flashers fixed, the "computer room chair tightened, the two big wooden blinds replaced with alabaster colored vinyl blinds, and an oil change and chassis lube done. It took 3.5 hours to drive from Decatur to Versailles and I was racing with the sunset. It was cloudy and dark to begin with, so for the first time, I ended up driving at night. It started to rain as we got into Versailles and I registered at the...
