Nov 2, 2010 - leaving on a jet plane

After an amazing three weeks at home, my time has come to board yet another plane. Tomorrow I will begin my journey to South East Asia. My itinerary goes something like this: Chicago-> San Fransisco(layover)-> Hong Kong(layover)-> Denpasar, Bali It's going to be a long one and I will finally arrive in Bali on Friday, November 5 where I will meet Sam at the airport. When we find a place to stay and get settled, I will do my best to get online and update- hopefully sometime that day or during the weekend. For those of you I got a chance to...

Apr 13, 2010 - An early birthday celebration

Today was a slug day. Our niece, Charity, was home sick from school, so we all just sorda hung out at home, getting e-mails up to date, and sharing picture albums that we had gotten from Mom & Dad. Now, tonight was also Girl Scouts at Jo’s house, and the girls were planning a small surprise party for her. When youngest daughter, Melody, got home from school, it was decided that she didn’t want to go to dance class, which meant Jo wasn’t going to be out of the house for the girls to do what they needed to do to get things set up for their...

After breakfast of homemade cinnamon rolls that Debbie made, we said our good-byes and headed north up to Debi’s sister, Jo’s, for one last visit before we get home. We parked the trailer on the street and spent 2 days with the girls, while hubby Cam, was in Michigan. Sorry we missed ya, Cam!

Nov 19, 2009 - Valparaiso, In to Scott AFB, IL

Took the truck in today and ended up replacing the EGR valve. It only took a couple hours so we were on the road and heading south by Noon. We spent the night at the military lodge at Scott AFB. After sleeping in our new sleeping bags a couple nights, a soft bed was very nice. It was a nice trip cross Indiana and Illinois, had a couple rain drops, but mostly just overcast.

Nov 18, 2009 - Indiana Lakeshore National Park

We decided to spend an extra day here in Valparaiso, and headed up to Indiana Lakeshore National Lakeshore to pick up our “Passport to the Nation’s Parks”. We drove through the swamp area of the park, seeing a flock of 30 or more wild turkeys, several deer, and other wildlife. Then we headed to Mt Baldy, an open and “moving” sand dune. The view from the summit looking out over Lake Michigan was very beautiful even if the day was overcast and dreary. On the way to the lakeshore, we had problems with the truck again, so will spend one more...

Oct 16, 2008 - Valparaiso, IN

We stopped in Valpo for a quick stop to see Uncle Roy. We actually were able to go out to dinner with him and then drive him to Fort Wayne the next day. - Sorry no pictures, it was a quick stop. We stayed at an interesting rv park, though. Very woodsy and the only RV park in Valparaiso.

Jul 1, 2008 - ~Home*Sweet*Home~

Today we found a flying J and got the RV handwashed and cleaned the inside. After we waited for about an hour, we returned the RV to Aaron Rentals. After they inspected the RV we paid, and took off to subway and then on our merry way home. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to get home, the drive was nice and easy. Well, thats about it. We had an absolutely fantastic vacation but are very glad to be home. That is the end of this adventure. Thanks for following and we hope you enjoyed it. :-)

Jul 29, 2007 - Day 35, Valpariaso, IN - Rest Day!

Today is a rest day and a well needed rest day after riding the last 13 of 14 days! I had the opportunity to attend Church services this morning at the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University. The chapel has some of the most decorated stain glass windows I have seen on this trip. After Church I spent the day cleaning my bike and clothes in preparation for another four days of riding. Next rest day is Burton, OH. I have never heard of the place! We leave tomorrow morning for the seventh of eight Century rides. It is suppose to be...

Jul 28, 2007 - Day 34, Valparaiso, IN

The days are going faster and faster as the final day of the end of ride approaches. We have covered 2444 miles and it seems like we are just hitting our stride. Today's ride was a short 81 miles (actually turned out to be more like 85 miles but at this point who is counting?). We departed the Coal City Area Club camping area - which last night was the scene of a rambunctious party that kept most riders up all night. We all started off the day just a little sleepy and on edge, but as the day progressed, the attitudes and morale improved....
