Jul 16, 2018 - Kleen Tank

Went to E&S again - lots of bulk items and just fun to go through. We didn't check out the lawn furniture places as no way to have any of it shipped to us anyway. We checked out the new campground that was under construction last year near the Flea Market. It's OK, there are a few spots long enough for us but where we are is much better. Surprising they didn't put a little more effort into this new park. For our purposes it would not be a place we could set up in on the day of the Flea Market and we think the price is no less than where we...

2018 Trip

Jul 14, 2018 - Shipshewanna and LaGrange 4H fair

We had a short drive to Shipshewanna, they put us in a great end spot number 86. There are small trees that don’t interfere with the slides but attract a lot of birds so the cats are really having a good time. Birds in the morning and the evening. The campground is hosting a rally for Redwood 5th wheels that starts Tuesday but many are here already. Lots of people walking around and we went to town to the good shops we found last year. Will get garden flags again and look into a coin purse too. Everything will be closed tomorrow on Sunday...

2018 Trip

Jul 7, 2018 - Scouring downtown Shipshewana

Well the last two days have seen Sue and me tour all the downtown shops with Pat and Bridget. It has been a hoot. As with all small towns that have a lot of tourist activity there is a lot of small ticket items, but here they are mostly older antiques instead of the cheap made in China stuff you see in most tourist areas. But there are some neat things. Last night was the same as all the other nights...a late bright sky. So let me cover yesterday. We stayed in and headed downtown, but we started at the Auction Restaurant. Lunch was good...

Jul 5, 2018 - Pre, Holiday and Post...or 3 days in Shipshewana

Finally back to post. I have been enjoying the weather and the late sunsets and have not gotten back into the Bus in time to post. We have done a few things over the last few days and have taken it easy. For some reason Indiana has decided to make both us and Pat and Bridget feel at home. Humidity has been extremely high. Heat indexes are in the low to mid 100's. Change is supposed to be coming but the forecast has been so wrong the last week...who knows. Oh well, I am sure it is preparing us for our return to Little Rock next week. On...

Jul 2, 2018 - Wow, six months gone...six to go...this year

Amazing that six months of the year are gone...the good thing is that there are still six months left in this year. So far this year we have been in eleven states. We have not explored all that we want to explore but we have seen a lot of new stuff...to us. I know now why I have had such a problem posting every night. It gets dark so late up here in northern Indiana. We were sitting outside tonight talking with Pat and Bridget at 10:00 p.m. and our vision was not impaired by darkness. Totally unbelievable. Pat and Bridget spent last week...

Jun 30, 2018 - Finally...

We spent Thursday night in a hotel...Staybridge Suites, because the Bus was locked up inside Cummins with no fuel tank. As you can see, it was on the floor below the Bus. They think the issue was the fuel rod installed at the tank cleaning and recertfication in Las Vegas. And sure enough the fitting on the rod was allowing air to get in the fuel line and eventually shutting down the generator. But more on that later. We arrived at Cummins around 9:30 to check on the progress. The generator was running well off the bucket of fuel. As soon as...

Jun 8, 2018 - Inspiring breakfast, experiencing the chain of Lakes, campfires and Anabaptist

Friday night at the laundrymat. Last time we did this was in Tuscany in 2011 it costs equivalent of 17 dollars. Hopefully tonight's trip won't come close to that. Have been in Indiana since Wednesday PM. After posting our whereabouts on Facebook, I realized one of my patients, now friend, Molly was 15 miles away. After she had her son I so wanted to meet her dad, the US traveler. We made that happen at his house. After two pages of travel notes I left so much wiser. #1 Be a yes #2 Ask the people I meet what I want to see or know #3 The best...

Sep 7, 2017 - Shipshewanna

We are in Shipshewanna South RV park, can't get 129 on the Dish but otherwise nice long pull thru that is level. On the drive here the tire sensor went off again, had settled down once Ray replaced the battery while at Cruising America. Will have to monitor it - probably should have had it checked out in Celina. It rained quite a bit here. Now we have Hurricane Irma progressing toward Florida and it's frightening to see it - 180 mph winds over the islands. Path over Florida may go up the interior but it's not settled yet. We are monitoring...

2017 trip

Sep 4, 2017 - Shipshewana, again

On this Labor Day, Steve and I took a ride back to Shipshewana. On the way there, we rode by so many beautiful Amish farms. Without exception, the houses were well kept, with neat flower lined yards and gardens. Beautiful barns everywhere. We really have enjoyed our time in Amish country! We passed through the town of Middlebury and stopped to take pictures of some of the life-like statues that are scattered around town. There are also statues in nearby Goshen that I hope to get a chance to photograph before we leave later this week. When...

2017 Life in our RV

Jun 14, 2017 - Heritage Trail continued

Today we drove more of the Heritage Trail into Shipshewana. The further north we drove the more and more Amish homes, farms and families we saw. Bikes and horse drawn buggies seem to be the biggest mode of travel and boy did we come across a lot of horse and buggy traffic and the evidence left behind .. the locals call that 'apple nuggets'. LOL love it! Shipshewana is famous for its flea market, Yoders, and specialty shops. We walked until are feet gave out through the flea market, and every specialty shop we could find in our visitor's...

May 17, 2017 - Shipshewana and Elkhart

2017-05-17. Elkhart, Shipshewana, It would be nice if, just once, we went on an RV trip and nothing went wrong with the coach. You may recall that in Moab, our front slide-out "broke" and Bob spent two days with a mechanic trying to get it to go in and out because one of the rollers broke causing the slide-out to "miss" a couple of cogs resulting in an out of wack alignment. We called Custom Pro RV repair at the suggestion of the Newmar company because Newmar was too backed up to help us get this repaired. Bob called Custom Pro on May 1st...

Sep 29, 2016 - Shipshewana 9/29/16

If Only… If only the city crews here hadn’t decided that today was going to be the perfect day for them to close the only access road to the RV refrigeration place (so they could pave); Then, we wouldn’t have had to make sure we got there well before the crews closed the road to start working; Then, we wouldn’t have had to be there when it was still pitch dark; And, Bill would have been able to see the large eave hanging over the repair shop’s garage; And, we wouldn’t now need a new windshield before we can leave town. SIGH… We are now...
