May 21, 2007 - wheelin' and dealin'

After our lengthy Class A lesson yesterday, we felt ready to stop at a huge dealer on the Ohio/Indiana border. Best Buy RV has three acres of vehicles for sale under roof. Since most dealers today have their inventories online, we knew that they had some contenders. We want a diesel engine and the 2008 models are significantly more expensive due to new engine requirements for low sulphur petroleum. They had a 2006 on the lot they were selling on consignment that only had 5,000 miles on it. It had all the bells and whistles, including some...

Aug 10, 2006 - Glenn Miller park

We had to stop at the Glenn Miller city park in Richmond , Indiana. This park was named after the great band leader during the 30's and 40's, he had played at this park as so many other great band leaders of the day. My mother as a young women had driven up to Richmond in her dad's Model "A" ford, just to see Glenn Miller and Paul Whiteman. If you are under 60 years of age you better go talk with your dad or mother about them. We visited the cold water stream that flows from the ground in the park, they still come from all over to take home...

Aug 10, 2006 - The Beginning

August 2006: We bought our first RV, a 2007 Rockwell Travel Trailer, Signature Ultra Light, purchased at Tom Raper, Indiana. Sticker was 28,000. We traded in a 2002 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, (sniff, sniff). We think it is pretty nice. We pulled it with a 2003 Chev Silverado. We live on a very busy four lane street and I must admit, backing it into the driveway was a tad nerve racking!

"BUTTERFLYING" OUR WAY TO RICHMOND, INDIANA 5/31/06 Ok, now that I have your attention, let me apologize to the entomologists out there. This is not about real butterflies. "Butterfly" is a term Fred often uses to describe my behavior, especially while shopping. He thinks my attention span is limited, that I am easily distracted. He especially calls me a butterfly when I am grocery shopping. Because I don't just walk into the store, go to the produce department, pick up a head of lettuce and come home. While I'm in produce, I need to check...

May 15, 2006 - Richmond, Indiana

Today we drove to Richmond, Indiana which is close to the Ohio border (center of the state). It rained lightly most of the day but the driving wasn't too bad. All of these states - MO, IL, IN - are all so green along the highway. Once in a while there is evidence of small towns or farms breaking through the forests. We saw a lot of bright yellow fields that we were told was Soy. We passed another Giant Cross like we saw in Texas, but didn't stop to check it out. We arrived in our RV park in Richmond, Deer Ridge Camping Resort, in the rain....
