Aug 3, 2012 - Walmart Lot #2
It was such a great trip to Niagara Falls, but we have kids to see and miles to go. The drive has been pretty, with the landscape changing from the farms of New York to a less lush landscape. Although we are traveling along Lake Erie, we aren't seeing much in the way of water. The temperatures are kicking up, and the cool of Maine is starting to feel like months, not days, ago. We camped in our second Walmart tonight. The fridge is acting up a little, so we are keeping an eye on that. Since we arrived at 10:30 pm, David had a bowl of...

Jul 8, 2012 - That’s More Like It !
Last night we had just settled down in bed (1100PM) and I noticed the bedside clock and my C-PAP machine were not working and the AC had stopped. They run off of AC power so I needed to get up to see if we tripped a breaker in our electrical panel – all were normal. Next step was to go outside and check the breakers on the power post – all were normal. I carry a multi-meter for just such situations and it turns out neither the 30-amp nor the 50-amp outlets were live. I’m thinking it’s going to be a warm night without power and the AC and...

Sep 20, 2011 - Jour 27

Aug 3, 2011 - Still Here (third Day)
We had a day to drive up to Richmond,Indiana to visit a few places that my mother had visited as a young girl in the 30's & 40's. My mother would drive a car with her girlfriends to the dances at a park in Richmond, the would collect some money for gas and fill the tank for 50 cents. Then drive up to Richmond to see the big bands before they became big bands, like Glenn Miller and Paul Whitemen. The name of the park was changed after Glenn Miller was killed in the 40's . We got to see other area of Richmond and to do some geocaching. Cook...

May 26, 2011 - Scary Night in Indiana
Traveled from Kentucky into Indiana not knowing we were driving into harms way. It was a beautiful day with uneventful travel until we reached Indiana. I don't think we will ever travel through Indiana again if we can help it. The Interstate System is in terrible shape. I mean the worst we have driven on. Fortunately Florence, our GPS, routed us off the Interstate onto some beautiful backroads. We drove through towns such as Greensburg and Rushville. I had been looking for a Wells Fargo Bank and believe it or not in the small town of...

Oct 8, 2010 - Pro Football Hall of Fame & Travel thru Amish Country
Today started off with a visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The building has grown since our last trip here back in 1978. We enjoyed seeing all the exhibits and even took turns at playing "Peyton Manning" (not very well I might add). However, it only took me 4-tries before I hit my receiver. Of all the years to visit, I had to sit through the Colts Super Bowl loss, again. In the theatre, they showed the scoring highlights of that game. Attached are some pictures we took in the Hall of Fame. After leaving the Hall of Fame, we decided to...

May 19, 2010 - Missouri, Illinois, Indiana
We finally found Lost Valley Lake RV Resort in Missouri. It was definitely hidden in the foothills of the Ozarks. Between a lot of rain and Tony’s allergies/sinuses reacting to all the pollen, we didn’t venture far from “home”. We did take a day bike trip to a picturesque little town called Herman nestled on the Missouri River. There we toured Stone Hill Winery which originally opened in 1869. Its underground stone cellars are massive. All of its original huge casks were destroyed at the beginning of prohibition, but otherwise the winery...

Apr 15, 2010 - Richmond, IN
/// Thursday - April 15, 2010 We got an earlier than planned start for today's trip, departing Effingham, IL by 9:00 AM The overnight low temperature was just 60 degrees. So long Illinois, we enjoyed our stay in the Land of Lincoln. // The road conditions for today's trip were a real mixed bag. For the first leg of today's trip east on I-70 to Indiana the road surface conditions were surprisingly smooth. From the Indiana state line east to Indianapolis on I-70 the pavement was in terrible condition. The conditions did improve some east of...

Aug 23, 2008 - Day 78 - Peoria, IL to Richmond, IN
We were up and just about ready to hook up when Russ noticed what he believed to be a rock in the right rear tire. When he looked at it close, he found that it actually was a rather large nail so our tire woes continue! Actually the rear tires on the truck were badly worn and we had planned to change them as soon as we got back to Burlington so it wasn't really a big deal. There was a tire shop right next door to the campground so he headed there where he found that the tires on the 2008 F350's were a relatively new size and not everyone...

May 21, 2007 - wheelin' and dealin'
After our lengthy Class A lesson yesterday, we felt ready to stop at a huge dealer on the Ohio/Indiana border. Best Buy RV has three acres of vehicles for sale under roof. Since most dealers today have their inventories online, we knew that they had some contenders. We want a diesel engine and the 2008 models are significantly more expensive due to new engine requirements for low sulphur petroleum. They had a 2006 on the lot they were selling on consignment that only had 5,000 miles on it. It had all the bells and whistles, including some...
