Jun 12, 2015 - Extreme Flight Championship

6-12-15 XFC (Extreme Flight Championship) Got up very early and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I brewed coffee and decided to do some RC night flying. There was plenty of wind which makes flying in the dark challenging. It takes some getting used to. Went to Starbucks to check email and added to the journal. Was back at the AMA field in time to do some RV chores then go to the XFC (Xtreme Flight Competition). This contest features extreme 3D style flying for both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The event is international and pilots are...

Jun 11, 2015 - Muncie to Indy......and back

6-11-15 To Indy from Muncie…..and back We were on the road to Indianapolis International Airport by 6:30AM to get Julie on the 8:45AM flight to Denver. The distance from Muncie is about 76 miles or about an hour twenty depending on traffic. Got to the airport with minutes to spare. Julie got off to board her plane while I turned around and head back to Muncie in Indy rush hour traffic. I missed my navigator immediately as I took a wrong turn and was forced to go get coffee and sort things out. I eventually found my way back to Muncie by...

Jun 10, 2015 - Oak Park, IL to Muncie, IN

Oak Park, IL to Muncie, IN We got up and ready to roll by 9AM. Vicki and Shawn had recommended we leave around that hour to hit the sweet spot between rush hours in the Chicago area. The traffic wasn’t too bad, so following their advice paid off. Before leaving, I noticed that the “Driver’s Mirror Spider” was still with us. This spider had hitched a ride with us in Washington DC (we think). Every day, he builds a web overnight from the driver’s mirror of the Toyota to the door frame. I usually sweep it away and we go on with our day. Every...

Jun 8, 2015 - A day of rest in Muncie

6-8-15 A day of rest in Muncie Today there is nowhere to go so we pretty much took the day off. I did go to the AMA Headquarters to check in with some folks then I took Julie on a quick tour of Muncie. Had coffee, visited some stores and looked for the difficult to find crackers. Got back to the RV in time for lunch and for Bob to take a nap. Julie worked on the things that Julie does and I addressed some maintenance issues. I need new tires on the RV and this part of the country is probably the best place to get them. After dinner, we took...

Jun 7, 2015 - New York to Indiana

6-7-15 Grand Island, NY to Muncie, IN Another long day of driving was planned for today so we were up and ready to roll by 9AM. We stopped for fuel on the way out. I kept Julie in my sights today until the last moment when I pulled into the gas station. I got out of the RV, looked for Julie and...she was nowhere in sight! She punked me again! Turns out she saw an Ace Hardware she had been looking for, had tried to call me, but I left the phone in its "hands off” cradle while getting ready to pump gas. I’m beginning to think she’s just...

Jul 7, 2008 - Western PA to Muncie, IN

July 7, 2008 Odometer start: 37,597 Left Campground 70 at 7:45 am This morning T was treated to a pheasant racing along the hillside outside the camper. Seen on the back of a truck along I-70: “Our job sucks! We guarantee it! You guessed it, it was a septic cleaning service. We got a kick out of Exit 0 for Wheeling Island. At a rest area in West Virginia, A noticed that one of the cotter pins had fallen off the sway bar. We decided to look for a place to replace it during our next fuel stop. As luck would have it, T noticed an AutoZone...

Jun 19, 2007 - Muncie, IN

Had a great time visiting in Muncie with family, friends, and Oreo. When we got to Dad's house, I called to Oreo and she came running right up to me. I think she remembered us. She has gained a pound or so, just like her previous owners. Dad and I took her to the Vet for her shots and he didn't even suggest that she should lose some weight. I couldn't believe it as my Vet told me she should lose six ounces the last time I took her. She is the same sweet kitty and we can see that Dad is getting a lot of enjoyment out of her. So, we decided...

Sep 16, 2006 - Traveling Day 2

Today was another traveling day. In fact, we did 538 miles and are in New Castle, Indiana. It was another gray, cloudy day with intermittent light rain until 3pm. We finished Pennsylvania - 325 miles for us to get thru there. West Virginia was only 13 miles. Tonight we have very high-class accomodations - we're in a Flying J truck stop. It's quieter than ast night. I'm having trouble uploading pictures so I may have to send them in a regular email until I get this worked out. Good-O-Meter 85% Many irritations getting the computer to work...
