Aug 8, 2018 - And So It Begins!

After 7 years of planning and talking about it, today was the day. Up around 6:30 AM. Finished loading the van and doing a few things around the house, then headed out around 9. Uneventful trip, PA Turnpike, Ohio turnpike, and Indiana turnpike. Little traffic but a few construction areas in Ohio. Arrived at the Fairfield Inn on West University at 6:30. Checked google maps and found a Wendy's .3 miles away so decided to walk up there for dinner. Closed for renovations. What are the odds! Ended up across the street at a Chick-Fil-A in a mall...

May 17, 2017 - Mishawaka

2017-05-17.Mishawaka Before leaving the Elkhart area, we spent an afternoon walking the riverwalk in Mishawaka, Indiana, the town next to South Bend. What a lovely place! I imagine that many of the lovely homes that make up beautiful neighborhoods are occupied by Notre Dame employees and faculty since the towns are so close to one another. There wasn't any lineup coming off the Ambassador Bridge and although the Border Patrol looked in the trailer, I was only held up for a couple of minutes. Then I headed south on I-75 towards Toledo. (I-75...

May 4, 2009 - Mishawaka, IN - RV/MH Museum in Elkhart, IN

(Ron Writing) This morning we drove a short distance northwest from Goshen, IN to Elkhart, IN. Penelope, our trusty (most of the time) GPS, took us directly to my nephew Loren’s home. We hadn’t seen Loren in about 7 years so we had a nice visit at his home and then over lunch at the Cracker Barrel. After lunch we toured the RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum & Library in Elkhart. If you are interested in RVs you’d rate this a gem even though AAA doesn’t. They have a nice variety of very early campers and show the evolution of these into modern fully...
