Nov 3, 2009 - We're on the Road Again

At last we are able to get back on the road. The new tires were delivered from Rockport, Illinois at noon. Kent and son worked diligently to get them mounted on the motorhome so by 2 p.m. we were driving south on I-65. We only went as far as Columbus, Indiana to Woods n' Waters Campground where we will stay and unwind for two nights. Since our motorhome is a 2005, we assumed that the tires were only 4 years old. But by the DOT numbers on the sides of the tires, Kent informed us that they were actually manufactured in 2003!! We have learned...

Nov 2, 2009 - Looking for Tires

The tow/tire owner Kent, a wonderful man, spent several hours looking for 5 tires that are the same for the motorhome. Finally he found them in . . . .Rockport, Illinois and they will be delivered here tomorrow about noon. So we have spent the day in the motorhome at the tow company. We'll spend tonight here in the tow co. yard which is fenced and locked with German Shepherds on duty. Because we are out of propane and can't find any, Kent has hooked us up to the two tanks that he took from his fifth wheel so we'll stay warm. And we have...

Guess we shouldn't have left home on Halloween!! Seems as though our trip was haunted for the entire day! We had a late start as there were strong winds. Didn't leave home until 10 a.m. We drove through some rain and wind for about 100 miles. South of Lansing, MI we heard a pop and then a loud noise as the right rear inside tire blew. We pulled safely to the side of the road and called AAA since we have their RV Plus card. Well, the AAA operators worked for about 2 hours trying unsuccessfully to find a company to assist us. Then they turned...

Jul 26, 2008 - Visiting family in Marion!

Plans changed! Called Marilyn and Evrett and got the all-clear for an impromptu visit! We got a late start from Prairie Pines in Rantoul, but made good time traveling across Illinois and crossing into Indiana. We arrived in Marion about 3 or 4 o'clock. Evrett was concerned at first, having lost his hair from chemo, but that concern vanished quickly. I was just so glad to see him up and about and smiling!! Marilyn, too, looks well ... in spite of daily treks as Evrett's chaffeur to Indianapolis for daily treatments! We had dinner at...
