Aug 2, 2015 - Indiana Interstate Enterprises, Inc.

/// Indiana Interstate Enterprises, Inc.\ LaGrange, IN Sunday - August 2, 2015 My brother Bob, stopped by this morning to see us off. We had planned to depart the KOA Campground by 9:00 AM and that is when we hit the road. Today's route was fairly simple, a couple of miles north to the Ohio Turnpike and we were headed west. We made just two rest stops and we arrived at the Indiana Interstate Repair shop in LaGrange. A distance of 225 miles in 5.5 hrs. Chuck and Sherry continued on to the Shipshewana South RV Park in Shipshewana. We hope to...

Apr 30, 2015 - From the Volunteer State to Hoosier country

We were going to leave Saturday morning but the weather forecast was not good – severe T-storm warnings and the possibility of some of those twisting funnels. We took care of some chores, ran some errands and had a nice dinner at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant in Pigeon Forge. We hunkered down that night, closing our slides. We had some of the hardest rain we have experienced since going on the road but were no worse for it. And – no twisters. Over Sunday and Monday we drove the 500 plus miles over a combination of interstate highways...

May 9, 2014 - Arrival in Indiana

Thursday May 8 After having some work done on the rig in Red Bay, we left there Wednesday AM. The weather for Wednesday and Thursday was clear, warm and windy. So we got our first sampling of driving in windy conditions. It wasn’t that bad. The wind definitely affects the motorhome more than the truck and 5th wheel but we knew that going into this. We traveled all Interstate highways – something we prefer not to do. We made a stop at Camping World in Nashville to pick up a few items that we had ordered and had shipped there. Next stop was...

Apr 24, 2013 - A cold night - arrival in Indiana

Saturday We met two nice couples from KY in a new Allegro Open Road next to us in the campground. We had a nice visit. They had many questions about full-timing, etc. We finally got on the road and headed north along I-75 (no good red road options today) past many of the VERY nice ($$$) horse farms in the Lexington area into Ohio. We have been told that the Kentucky Horse Park campground is a nice place to stay – we’ll hit that another time. Ginger drove part of the way today. We exited I-75 onto Route 33 north of Dayton and drove to the...

Jun 24, 2012 - On to Indiana

You may have noticed that our travel routes intersect in LaGrange. We have made another (our second) huge loop from LaGrange! We are here to have (RV Doctor) Paul Cross check our trailer again. Sun 6/24 I filled up at $3.43/gallon just down the road from the campground. Price is still going the right way - for now!! It was very nice weather today, albeit still warm, for a trip to Indiana. We took a truck route detour around construction in Louisville (glad we did based on later reports). We found I-65 north of Louisville to be quite rough...

Nov 3, 2011 - Chairside table and computer desk combo

Still in Indiana. Some of you are interested in photos of the table we had Vernon Lambright build for us. It is a smaller version, slightly different pattern of the one he was building. We gave him some dimensions and ideas on what to change back in July. The table turned out great! It is now a stock item for him and he has sold 40 since starting to make them. Check it out! It is 10" wide, 22" long (includes magazine rack/remote holder on back) and 23" high. The top lifts up for storage and it has an adjustable shelf inside. Available in a...

Oct 27, 2011 - LaGrange week #2 / Truck finished!

Week #2 in LaGrange On Sunday I cleaned out the basement, flushed the waste tanks well and made other preparations for taking the trailer to Paul & Kay’s. We said goodbye to our fellow Mobile Suite owner neighbors, Bob & Lois. They had Paul do some work on their unit and are now on their way to Florida. We hooked up to the trailer to make sure that everything would work well and I grilled a nice steak for dinner. We were at Indiana Interstate early Monday morning. After going through our list with Paul, the “RV Doctor”, we left it in his...

Oct 23, 2011 - New Truck!

Clear and 44 degrees here this morning. We did pick up the new truck on Thursday afternoon. It was raining quite hard but it let up about the time we arrived at Classy Chassis. We took care of the usual paperwork, made the call to the insurance company to change coverage, etc., then transferred the few things that we had left in the old truck and were soon on our way. We will be returning next week to have the graphics added. Good news - our truck insurance coverage will actually be less because the truck can be added to our trailer...

Oct 19, 2011 - Really wet!!

It rained overnight off and on, then it REALLY started to rain this morning! After a leisurely breakfast and ruling out the flea market for today, we drove up to the DRV factory (the manufacturer of our Mobile Suite) about 7 miles from here and picked up some parts we needed. As always their customer service folks took very good care of us - kudos to DRV! We then went to WalMart - just up the street and both got haircuts. Very good cuts at a very good price. After that we stopped at the Rise n' Roll bakery. WOW! I can see why our good...

Oct 18, 2011 - Wet!!!

Overcast all day today with rain arriving in the afternoon. We drove the few miles down the road to Paul and Kay's (Indiana Interstate) and dropped off our bikes, bike carrier and a number of items from our truck for short term storage. I made an appt for an oil change on the old truck at the local Ford garage and we spent several hours cleaning out the truck and cleaning the inside. The old girl looks mighty good - maybe we'll keep it. Guess NOT! In the late afternoon we made a run to WalMart to pick some groceries. We were disappointed...

Oct 17, 2011 - Arrival at LaGrange

Just a short run of about 70 miles today to our destination - Lagrange. We are in Maple Ridge campground (actually a nice mobile home park that has a 1/2 dozen RV sites). We are just a few miles from Indiana Interstate, the shop that will perform our 5th wheel repairs. We are early for our appointment so we will take care of some things while waiting to get into the shop. Before hooking up and heading this way around mid-day, we drove down to Classy Chassis in Valparaiso to look at our new truck. It is great! We should be able to pick it up...

Jul 20, 2011 - Long Overdue Update and GOOD NEWS!!!

WE MADE IT. THE HOUSE IS SOLD AND WE ARE ON THE ROAD! YES - I KNOW, LONG TIME NO ENTRY!!! Our sincere apologies for the “blackout”. We promise to be much better in the communication department now that we are traveling. As I write this it is 8:00 PM and 92.7 humid degrees – YUK! Well, it has been a long and arduous several months (to say the least)! As many of you know, we worked long and hard on the house to get it into shape for putting it on the market. New sheet rock, painting, staining, woodwork, doors, light fixtures, on and on. Our...
