Jan 29, 2015 - Getting Close

We were at the Camping World ready to go at 8 a.m. since we wanted to get to Indianapolis for the evening. We booked a hotel room since we couldn't use any of the water systems in the Casita after it was winterized. Of course, Camping World did not get to us at 8 a.m., or 9 a.m.; in fact, it was closer to 9:30 before they came to get the trailer. Another couple in a big class A was supposed to be getting their rig winterized and a couple of repairs done, but when they weren't taken in at the appointed time, they left quite angrily. Finally,...

Nov 19, 2014 - On the way!

Peter left from Indianapolis early this morning with all of his luggage and three instruments, including the new flute he bought while he was on vacation. He is looking forward to a great adventure and will arrive in Singapore tomorrow. He will join the ship two days from now, after about 25 hours of flying/airport time and a relaxing night in a hotel in Singapore.

Oct 18, 2014 - Indianapolis, Indiana USA

After leaving the ship in Singapore, Peter flew through Qatar and Philadelphia to arrive home in Indianapolis shortly before noon today. Unfortunately, his luggage was held up in customs in Philadelphia and it arrived at our house at about 6:30 this evening! After visiting at church during Octoberfest and having dinner with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jan this evening, he is home, asleep in his own bed. He has to be back on the ship for the next contract on November 21. His trip completely circled the globe, since he left on March 6, heading west...

Aug 21, 2014 - Indiana is for Dairy

After 3 days of driving a minimum of about 1,350 kilograms a day we decided we were entitled to a breather. Actually, we still decided to get up at 8; be on a train to downtown Chi-town by 9; and spend the morning and early afternoon seeing the sights. Mostly the giant chrome jelly bean in Millennium Park, actually. God had other plans. He made it rain (really hard) in the early morning. And he (she? whatever?) also made it so that Liz’s raincoat is packed up in boxes on a moving truck in Montreal (more on that in a moment). Liz note: Not...

Jul 6, 2014 - Our annual Indianapolis Visit

After an easy 199 mile drive from Cave City, we arrived at our Indianapolis-area home park, Lake Haven Retreat. This is the same park that we have stayed in for the last three seasons, so we reconnected with friends there and felt quite at home. We spent the rest of April and May visiting with our families – mom, brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and grand (!!!!) nieces and nephews. As one might imagine, it was a busy and joyful time catching up with and enjoying the company of our loved ones. We said our...

May 31, 2014 - Back in EDT

We started our trek east this morning as we left Springfield. Most of today’s route was along US 36 which runs straight as an arrow for over 100 miles from Decatur, IL to near Indianapolis, IN. It was bordered by farms most of the way except for Decatur and a couple of small towns. Most of the corn and soy beans have been planted and the farmers are out with specialty equipment fertilizing and spraying for weeds. Along the way we crossed into the Eastern Time Zone for the first time since March. Right after leaving the KOA we passed...

May 10, 2014 - Indiana

We got to Roxanne's in Franklin, IN (just south of Indianapolis) on Friday (the 8th) just before her girls got out of school. Tried to get Justice motivated to finish her lessons without procrastinating which didn't work as she was still doing school when Lacey (the 4th grader) got home. Since Roxanne isn't near a campgrounds, we just plugged into her garage so we'd have power. Did laundry while Roxanne worked Saturday morning and then the three of us used Roxanne's "Hummer" to go for much needed haircuts. This evening Jack grilled steak...

Pulled out of the KOA around 9 am heading southwest, not sure where we would stop for the night. Made a stop at the local Sam’s Warehouse in Terra Haute Indiana so we could get some batteries and a new solar clock for the motorhome. Took a picture of the tree in bloom, been a long time since any of us have seen a tree in bloom. We got to talking with a gentleman in the parking lot that owned a watermelon business in Oak Town Indiana that sold 250 semi-trailer load of watermelon each year. He was interesting to talk with since he was so...

Dec 14, 2013 - Our Bags are Packed, We're Ready to Go!

During our first 5 days in Port Aransas, as the temperatures warmed each day all the way up to the low 80's, we explored the area. Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, and Corpus Christi make sort of a triangle. There are bridges from Corpus Christi to Port Aransas and Aransas Pass and a free ferry from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass that runs 24 hours a day. We got the tire on the car replaced in Corpus Christi and Brad got a haircut in Port Aransas. We found a nice place for coffee about 15 minutes away on foot and went to the IGA several times. The...
