May 26, 2019 - Goshen, Indiana - RV Rally

We left the Louisville area early, as we had a long drive to Indiana. The drive was a bit rainy but otherwise, an easy drive. When we arrived in Goshen as the fairgrounds, it sure looked like it had rained there. But it was a beautiful day and while Jay set up the RV, Rocky and I took a walk around the fairgrounds which looked so much better than the last time we stayed here. Our visit here was to be at a Passport America Rally. Since our first night here was prior to the start of the rally, the campground was full but no activities were...

Jun 23, 2018 - Last two days in Goshen

Friday started with a phone call to Beth on her birthday. She has been camping in Petit Jean State Park all week, just her and the girls. Jeff is out of town on a business trip and she has worked from the camper and taken Hannah back and forth to swimming practice. But her plans for her birthday included picking Jeff up at the airport in Little Rock Friday night. Her birthday aged Sue and me today...our baby turned 40. Damn, we are getting old. Then we left for South Bend to go to the Farmers Market with Pat and Bridget. We arrived around...

Jun 21, 2018 - The longest day of the year...is all wet...

Up early yesterday but not for the same reason as forty four years ago. Our older daughter was born on June 20, 1974. Sue called me in Fayetteville to advise she was on the way to the hospital. My dad, who also traveled at that time was in the same hotel as I was and he took me to Drake Field in Fayetteville so I could fly home to be there with Sue for our first born. As I said, not as early and not as nervous...either one of us. We were up to take the Bus to Lambright Custom Furniture for a check up on our theatre seat that has a little...

Jun 19, 2018 - Trip to Nappanee

Up by 7:00 a.m. in preparation for our trip to Nappanee, IN to tour the Newmar plant. We had breakfast, dressed, did a quick clean on the inside of the CRV and ready to go by 8:45. Before I get too deep into today, I forgot to mention in the Father's Day writeup that I got calls from both daughters and had great visits with them. Beth called early as they left St Louis and Haley called after they arrived at Orlando and the OmaHogs were in rain delay. The problem when trying to remember two days of activities and post...is that you overlook...

Jun 18, 2018 - Really Hot Time in Goshen

Father's Day started with Haley texting they were within an hour of getting of the boat to end their cruise. We were glad they were back in port. We operated slowly, one since it was Father's Day and two since it was so hot. Northern Indiana is not supposed to be this hot...but, it for dang sure is on this trip. We spent most of the day watching the final round of the U S Open golf tournament and the OmaHogs playing Texas at the College Baseball World Series. Woo Pig, even with the rain delay of almost three hours the Hogs took it to the...

Jun 16, 2018 - Oh, my gosh...back in Goshen

Thursday morning, up really early to get ready to go into a service bay. 7:40 and they come to get the Bus. We discuss several issues with the tech and see him drive off. We block off our space with the chairs and orange safety triangles to protect and reserve our good spot in the lot. We know more motorhomes will be coming in today and we are pretty sure we will not get completed in one day. Then down to the customer waiting area. There is another training class (similar to the one we attended last year) going on and we can sit in as...

Jun 12, 2018 - Rain, Rain go away...never mind we will...

Well another rainy morning and day so we spent some time in the Bus today. However, just before lunch we ran to Shipshewanna to see Vernon Lambright of Lambright Comfort Chairs. He made and installed our new sofa in the Bus last August. We are having an intermittent squeak issue on one side of the sofa. We inquired about having them look at it. While there we also are going to get them to install a USB tower in the arm rest between the recliners on the sofa. We will go in there next Wednesday the 20th. So for Haley's birthday we are going...

Jun 11, 2018 - Hot...NO, Wet...YES

Woke up Sunday morning with thunder (not trains) in the distance. Rain started before 9:00 a.m. and stayed around off and on all day long. We stayed in almost all day. I went out mid afternoon to pick up a sandwich and just to get out. Around 6:00 I was getting ready to go for a walk and looked up and Dave and Sharon were out front. We visited for about 15 minutes and Sue came out and joined. We had met them at our last RV Dreams rally in Sevierville, TN. They keep in touch with Pat and Bridget so we have kept up with them since that time....

Jun 9, 2018 - Two easy days...finally...

Friday - We slept in a little later than usual, since Friday was our first non-travel day of the week. Thursday afternoon was sunny and HOT. I had returned from dinner in time to make sure I got the windshield washed and the MagneShade on so we would be prepared for the sun on Friday...except, that did not happen. A little rain early helped to set the attitude to stay in bed later than normal. We spent some time after breakfast planning our agenda for the next few weeks. We have some travel windows but we are pretty well scheduled until...

Jun 7, 2018 - Here we are again...Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds

Last travel day for a few days. WooHoo! ! ! Our goal was to get out around 9:00 for our short day. Only 211 miles and that should be four hours or so...should be at Goshen around 1:30. Should have been an easy day...BUT, that is what plans are for...to get off kilter. It was sticky hot in Champaign. I had to change shirts after we got ready to travel and the CRV hooked up. I was sticky. We got the A/C in the dash cranked up to make sure we stayed cool, since the generator is not working. We left at 9:30. We drove about 45 miles up...

Oct 14, 2017 - Learning about the Amish & Shopping!

I got up early to catch a tour bus trip around the Amish countryside to go to shops and reacquaint myself with the area. I was there at 8 and the bus got there at 8:40 because the driver was told we were to leave at 8:45. We were told 8:15. No big deal, I'm just not so much an early morning person. It was a small bus and there were only 17 of us. A couple followed us in a car but left us when we were stopped at the side of the road hearing about the Amish schools. They missed the talks by the tour guide and didn't realize that she would...

Sep 1, 2017 - Finishing up at the rally

Well, the rally has come to an end! This was quite an interesting week. We have met many new friends, met some folks that we only knew via Facebook and got to spend time with friends that we met earlier in the year and some that we met in Tennessee at the rally there. We were able to get several items addressed on Mo - we will be getting a new cargo door to replace the one that is leaking, we had our furnace taken out and a new protective shield placed under it, we had one of our awnings fixed with some reinforcing screws, we had several...
