Sep 2, 2014 - Day 2 Gas City, IN to St Louis

Before getting back on I-69 to Indianapolis, we headed west from the campground in search of James Dean's home town. It is a short drive but the signage lacked a little something. We circled and crossed the same RR tracks three times and lost a beauty ring off the trailer wheel. But while we were circling we did also find Martina McBride's home town. The town for James Dean has narrow streets and it was tight maneuvering at the cemetery. Well now time to get back on the express way and continue to St Louis. While in St Louis we managed to...

Aug 6, 2013 - Staying Home In Indiana

To all of our travel journal readers: We traveled home to see our oldest granddaughter in the musical "Adventures of Tom Sawyer", and it was worth every mile driven back home to see it. I love musicals and even though Kylie had a small part in the play, she really gave her 100 per cent. I'm sure we will see her in some lead roles in the future. Doctor's appointments filled the rest of the week with Don's Aunt's 90th birthday party ending the week on Sunday, the 4th. Got a really nice call from our friend, Dennis, on Monday just checking on...

Jul 28, 2013 - Washington Indiana is pretty cool right now!

Well, we are home and enjoying surprising low humidity weather. Taking care of business matters, and of course, went to our granddaughter's musical play last night in Jasper, IN. So very proud of her! Funniest thing, on the opening scene of the first act, we noticed this man who was playing a judge who looked really familiar to us. It was our Nurse Practitioner who Don had just seen on Friday. We like him better than our doctor, and he was really good with an excellent singing voice. Our next event is Dons Aunt's 90th birthday party next...

Jul 24, 2013 - On the way home

We left our beautiful U.P. at Cedarville today to head home for doctor's appointments, granddaughter's musical, and Don's Aunt Ruthie's 90th birthday party the 4th of August. Depending on the outcome of Dr. Appointments, we may or may not return, so we decided to pull the trailer home with us. We will miss everyone, and enjoying John and Judy's visit with their daughter,Tammy, and Shannon, their granddaughter. Also, maybe we'll be missing a visit with the Sailors. We pulled out at 9:00 and landed in Gas City, IN, at 8:15 in a church parking...

Apr 24, 2011 - Easter Day

This morning we went over to visit Barbara's sister, Bettie (she is mostly bedridden and on oxygen) and her husband Raymond. She came to the table and sat up visiting with us for a long time. One of her sons, David, and his wife, Linda, came over to see us too. What a delightful young couple. Later we went back over to Becky's house for a HUGE holiday feast. Her daughter, Wendy, her husband Jim, and their two boys, Riley and Shawn were there as well as Becky's grand-daughter Kaylyn. After dinner, we all played a fun game called "Apples to...

Apr 23, 2011 - Family Time

We drove to the home of one of Barbara's sisters and visited awhile with she and her husband. They took us to a local restaurant for lunch where we were joined by more family. Barbara's brother, his wife and another of Barbara's sisters joined us there. Barbara was the oldest of seven children. All live up in this area where Russell and Barbara grew up. After lunch we went back to Becky's house and played farkle. I'm still on my losing streak but had fun visiting with everyone. The weather was warm and sunny today--a wonderful change from...

Apr 22, 2011 - Gas City, Indiana

Russell drove through pouring rain to arrive here late yesterday afternoon. Glad we moved on to Northern Indiana though. We would have been in the main tornado route. As it turned out, the tornado siren still went off a little after midnight last night giving us a bit of a fright. We dressed and went up to sit in the shower room. We were the only ones there as the park doesn't officially open until May 1st. After a driving rain lasting about 5 minutes, it was all over, thank goodness. Went back to the RV and my hubby fell asleep...
