Oct 25, 2006 - Drive from Nashville to Louisville, KY

We left around 9:00A.M. and drove up the secondary Hwy. 31W to Louisville, KY. It was a really nice drive. It was the original Highway before Instate 65 was built so it was nice driving through the little towns. We stopped at Mammoth Caves for lunch. We didn't go into the caves. From Mammoth, we got onto the Interstate as we wanted to get up to Louisville to go to Churchhill Downs. We arrived in Churchhill Downs around 2:30. We walked around and took pictures. We had wanted to stop at George Pattons Museum and Fort Knox and Corvette Museum...

Sep 29, 2006 - Bats and more Bats

Well, here we are, still in Kentucky, another really beautiful state that we have visited on our extended trek across the US. It seems like each state tries to outperform the last one to see which is more beautiful. Again lots of rolling hills with trees, but a little more open grasslands have begun to appear. Many with white fences enclosing small herds of horses of all types. These are the beautiful bluegrass hills of Kentucky, so named because of the blue blossoms that appear on the grasslands in early spring. After leaving Cascade...
