We were up early so that Bob could take the car to the Honda dealer for the tire stem. I stayed at the motor home to wait for the washing machine repair guy to arrive. Bob was back in about 1 ½ hours. He was the only customer in the dealership for at least 1 hour. Not at all like Ken Dixon Honda in Waldorf! After lunch, I went over towards South Bend to pick up toner for the printer, while Bob waited for the washer repair guy. I have been looking for a new camera and found one at Best Buy, after much internet research. When I returned to...

Sep 6, 2010 - Eastern Gypsy RV Rally, Elkhart, IN
After settling in for a couple of days, the rally began on Monday, August 30th. The campground is almost completely full and they had to set up a tent to handle some of the sessions and the evening activities. People are here from all over the country made up of full-timers, part-timers and wanna-bees.. Our hosts Nick and Terry Russell write the blog I read every morning. They also publish a newspaper 6 times a year as well as many booklets on various rv-related topics. This is their lifestyle and how they earn their living. We first met...

We went over to the recreation building for the wrap up of the square dancing weekend. Coffee, doughnuts, and a good-bye dance. We said our good-byes to our new friends, as they had to pack up and return home. As quickly as they left, the campground started to fill up again with overnighters off the toll road and people staying here prior to the Escapee Rally. I am not sure where the day went! We walked the dogs, let them run on the field, took a short nap, worked around the motor home. Not much happening.

Sep 5, 2010 - Sunday September 5- Elkhart IN
Today is a busy day at the motor home. We had a great breakfast using our fresh Amish bacon, then paid bills and updated our travel expenses. Our plan was to put up the other two blinds, but the one large one was about 2”s too short, so Bob returned it to Lowes. Fortunately the Lowes is close by, as we are trying not to use the car too much with the spare tire on the front. We ate lunch, took a short nap and went to the recreation building for the square dance workshop. The round dance workshop was still going and the cue’er told us that...

We were glad to be able to sleep in today, although I was up earlier than usual. Oh well! We left the motor home around 10 AM, and as we were driving past the recreation building I noticed people dancing inside, it looked like round dancing. So we stopped at the front desk to ask, and Gita, the owner, said that there is square dancing at the campground this evening. There is nothing on the internet about this! We went to the Visitor Center, to pick up a free CD for an audio tour of Amish country, called the Heritage Tour. We proceeded to...

Up at the usual time and we were off to coffee and doughnuts. We sat around talking to other attendees until almost time to get the car at 10 AM. Bob walked the dogs quickly, and we caravan'ed to Heartland RV for the factory tour, just 10 minutes away. Heartland does not build motor homes, they build trailers and 5th wheels. We toured the factory, which was very interesting. This first picture is of our smaller group starting the tour. We were able to see the manufacturing process from when the chassis arrives to the finished product which...

We will be staying her over the Labor Day weekend as we have some refrigerator work to be done and it is scheduled for Wednesday along with some toilet work. Some friends of ours are also staying here to have some work done to their 5th wheel travel trailer. Verdict was we need a new refrigerator. They installed the new refrigerator on Wednesday but they delivered the wrong doors. They open from the wrong side. So they will have the correct doors here by C.O.B. and will install them tomorrow. This is now Thursday they finished this...

There are over 150 rigs and 300 people here for the Rally, many have been here for over a week and will be here until we all head to Goshen for the next rally - the 50th Escapade. We woke up to steady rain so it was a wet hike over to the main building. Bob attended the “Love Affair with the Internet” done by Geeks on Tour. I went to the craft panel where there were some really talented women presenting their crafts. It was difficult to decide which seminars to go to the second round, as there were 3 I wanted to attend. Bob went to “Smart Phone Apps” and I went to “Digital Camera’s”. Both were very informative. We returned to the motor home for lunch and told each other about the other seminar. In the afternoon Bob...

Good news! After numerous delays, for various reasons we finally, FINALLY, settled on the house yesterday. Just found out this AM that we had closed. We had signed the paperwork weeks ago, and there kept being delay after delay, so over 90 days from our initial settlement date, we closed! Today was another day of seminars. Neither of us were interested in the first round of seminars, so after coffee and doughnuts we returned to the motor home. I cancelled the electric on the house, spoke with the Town of Indian Head, and cancelled the...

We overslept this morning, so it was very quick showers and the dog's morning walk was curtailed. Then we were off to the coffee and doughnuts followed by the seminars. I also turned in an application to become a Moose, as they also have a lot of campgrounds. Nick is going to sponsor me for membership. I also gave his wife Terri, back the cookbook to recycle into the door prize drawings. Nothing in that cookbook that I would every try! The first seminar we attended was “RV Bicycling” presented by the owner of Elkhart Bicycle Store. He was...

At about 5 AM I woke to a clicking sound. I was mostly asleep, but I kept trying to figure out what it was. It eventually stopped, and I went back to sleep. Awoke again at 8 and asked Bob if he heard it. He said it must have been when his side of the bed went flat. We have a Sleep Number mattress. His side was really, really flat. I took a picture with the dogs, so hopefully you can see how flat his side was. So once he was able to move, we got up, ate breakfast and started working on our day. The repair guy for the washer called back and...
